Here some say that while one is working one should not get the pension of which if they thought about it if those stop working the government would not be getting all that tax from their earnings, where in my case as a contractor the Goods and Services Tax I paid well and truly covered the pension money let alone the tax on the earnings. The Government is talking about lifting the age up a year or so as there are not enough young people being born to cover us oldies
They have raised the age here too.

My dad paid a whole hell of a lot into SS but he didn't even live long enough to collect it. Mom only gets $500 a month from his SS. Probably because she gets his retirement death benefits and military. Although, they deduct the amount she gets from his military pay from the pension so the military pay is nullified. They claimed paying both would be double-dipping even though my father served in Vietnam and then spent about 30 years in Army Reserves. They also screwed him on his LEAP (Law Enforcement Availability Pay). It was supposed to be 25% of his current rank (he retired at GS14 step10) but he was getting the LEAP of a GS9 step1. Major difference which ultimately made his retirement pay amount lower. Of course, the higher ranks don't even get LEAP (and there is no overtime pay for federal LEOs) if they hit salary cap somewhere in GS15 rank. She's been trying to contact OPM the past several months but every time she tries she gets an automated message that they are experiencing a high number of calls & then it hangs up.

Rusty, I'm glad to hear your hemoglobin levels are better.

Jon, I hope you are done with chemo and that the cancer is gone and won't come back.

I admit, our only usable bathroom is a mess-- vinyl sheet all torn up & dirt everywhere-- but I make sure to clean up any feces/urine. My toilet has looked worse than the one pictured after my brother got to it. He's had explosive crap that managed to get all over the entire toilet somehow and he never cleans up after himself. I remember walking in one day to use the bathroom and finding the seat on the floor covered in crap. Not sure how he managed that one. That was back when he weighed over 400lbs though. He's down just barely under 300 currently.

No warm water for the bidet sadly. Also, tp is needed for drying, but less of it is needed.

Today I cleaned up after puppies, played Elder Scrolls Online, cooked for Mom, and rested. Still feeling tired. I was going to get up earlier but Yasuke sat on me and didn't want to move. He's usually more cuddly with my brother and has never sat on me for so long before so I was enjoying the special moments. He whined like a little bitch when I had to get up.

I got chewed out on another forum for using symbols to replace letters in swear words. Was told I can't even use asterisks since it is a "family" forum and people got butthurt over "swearing".

I'm about to watch more Midsomer Murders.

Oh, btw, I remember someone else here plays ESO. Right now there is a special deal where you can get Morrowind expansion for free. Ascending Tide pack is out for 1500 crown points but it looks uninteresting. The next High Isle expansion looks boring. Only thing I want from it is the Khajiit companion. I just maxed reputation with Bastian and Mirri on a few characters. Got Mirri at lvl 19 and Bastian at lvl 9. (Sorry if this makes no sense to some people here-- this is how I feel when people discuss sports).

Speaking of sports, I walked in and Mom had some sort of Golf tournament on. I watched for around 10min as they tried to find someone's ball in the woods. Found it, and then the next few minutes they were trying to figure out the best way to hit it out. Five minutes later they were still trying to figure it out and I left the room.

I thought I would feel lousy from staying mostly in bed the past couple days but it helped. I didn't even have to take Naproxyn before going to the store today and I was able to walk quickly.
So, I went to Walmart, checked on RXs for my brother and asked them to fax the doctor to request refills (doctor was supposed to call it in last Monday). I had to clean up after the puppies before going but it wasn't as bad this time.
I stopped by to check on my friend and see if he really did kick his ex out this time. No sign of her and he said she's not welcome back and she's not allowed around her baby unsupervised due to her violence. She chucked a trashcan at my friend because she was mad that a female co-worker/friend bought him an apple watch as a gift. Mind you, he's not even in a relationship with his ex bc she's cheated on him so many times but the trash an combined with calling him ugly and toothless and no woman would want to be with him got him to decide he's done. Said it is not worth putting up with that abuse.
His daughter was over there and piled the new kittens on me. Krillin had a litter a few weeks back & they are adorable. No torties sadly. Krillin is a tortie but she had two oranges (one that had white on it) a calico, and a black kitten. My favorites are the solid orange and solid black. They are the niblings of my two youngest kitties. Krillin is their sister from another litter.
Friend's daughter was happy that the ex is gone. She grew to hate her.
I also got a new SD card for my phone to see if it would fix the "insufficient memory" error but it did not. So, I have to figure out what is wrong.
I'm about to finish up with season 6 of Midsomer Murders though.

My life

Thats good news Rusty
Got a phone call yesterday booking me in for a CT Scan on Monday of which would not be cheap. Second CT Scan I have had along with everything else with different "machines" I have had
I must be costing our health services heaps since early November. I reckon I have well and truly got a lot of my taxes back and it must be getting to the stage of me owing them. :)
I get NZ380 a week pension cause I am old. It must all add up to a large cost the government is paying out to me
You paid a lot in so I wouldn't feel a whole lot of guilt if I was you. 😉

Zanne, you know I'm also a mod on that forum. You were not chewed out at all. You were simply asked to modify out the cuss words. As you know, you give an inch, and a mile is stolen. Most on that forum are easy going, simple members who don't need cuss words to emphasize frustration. If something frustrates you on another forum, please let me know rather that spreading mis-truths.

Unless your primary pension is with Public Employees Retirement system. I was suppose to get $1800 a month, but since PERS is my primary, I get $500. Quite unfair if you ask me.
My wife will be hit with BOTH the WEP and the GPO.

Her modest Social Security benefit that she actually earned before becoming a teacher is cut 50% because of her CALSTRS pension by the Windfall Elimination Provision. Likewise her CalSTRS pension will disqualify her from 100% of the spousal/widows benefits she'd otherwise be entitled that I earned. This is called the Government Pension Offset. I've ensured through saving and investing over my lifetime that neither of us will depend on Social Security. It's obvious to anyone who can do grade school math that the system cant pay out what's been promised so compromises will have to be made with reality. What's fair is a very complicated question.

Well, being self-employed and paying in both halves, I don't figure I will live long enough to get it all back.
And think of the many who died from covid and won't draw theirs. That should help the system.

Not really, since our inept prezzydent is allowing illegals to draw pension benefits. All borders are open. I just passed the border inspection area out of Camp Pendleton, and it is closed. Come one, come all, to the land of welfare recipients!

My wife is diabetic. She like the sugar free chocolate fudge pudding mix. It is hard to find. So, Walmart gets some in stock and she orders it for pickup, only way they sell it. I get there and the log in screen is shut down. There is a phone number to call. I call the number twice and let it ring about 10 times, each time, no answer. So, I get in the long line for the service desk. She calls the number, no answer. She pages them twice before they respond. So it takes over 30 minutes for a simple pickup.

Havasu, I received some DMs from members there that chewed me out (not from admins though). I had friendly discussions with an admin. Sorry if it seemed like I was implying it was admins. I deleted the messages from members without replying.

Rusty, that sounds frustrating and like a lot of my experiences with pickups. The nearest Lowes won't even do curbside pickup because the employees don't know how to use the app. You have to go into the store, stand in line, and then tell them you are there for your order and wait for them to find it. I've had similar issues with HomeDepot. And Samsclub. I waited 3 hours at one of them.

I let puppies out, fed them, fed kitties, watched a little Midsomer Murders, and trimmed some of the blackberry weeds near the air conditioner. Need to find my shears again though. The little trimmer couldn't cut a lot of the thicker stuff. Got too hot so I came in.

The big box stores don’t care if you wait. In fact they know you’ll wait so why bother over staffing a store when clearly you’ll wait. Same thing with McDonald’s, you’ll wait. Even if you get pissed off and say you’ll never go there again, you will. Maybe you won’t for a spell but eventually you’ll go back, and wait.

We only have one other store here and they are higher on everything. And they have gone to mostly self check.

Except they still need to have employees to help with self-checkout and show people how to use the kiosks. They even have to help people with the apps. I do prefer self-checkout because I like to know where my stuff is and bag things the way I want and make sure that a bag doesn't get set aside (I've had employees keep some of my stuff before). I also don't have to worry about employees sneezing or coughing on my stuff or coughing on their hands and handling my stuff. I think the bottom line is I don't trust people. LOL.

I went out while I still had some daylight and sprayed metal primer on the 10ft pole we will put the satellite dish on. I couldn't get the entire surface-- maybe 3 sides of it. Waiting for it to dry enough to roll it and finish painting. It's in the car port. Puppies were interested in what I was doing at first but ran away from the strong odor of the primer. The writing on the can was waaay too small for me to read to see how long the drying time is. It's dark out now so I will wait until daylight then wait a few hours and do the main coat. Primer is gray and main coat is white (which will match the house siding per Mom's request).

Drying time is a funny thing depending on where you live. Humidity is so low here that I can get multiple coats of paint or finish on something in a single day. When I was in S.C. I finished a live edge slab with poly and it took damn near 2 weeks till it wasn’t sticky anymore. I started to use lacquer after that cus that dried pretty quick even with humidity. Z, your humidity isn’t in full swing yet is it? Even if the pole isn’t dry enough to handle, I’d think it would be dry enough to rotate it and spray the other side. Put a string through the pipe and suspend it in the air so you can roll it and spray the whole thing at one time.
