Yes, He liked to punish people and flex his money muscles....

And yea, had to use their carts, that was a rule. Didn't want any outside dirt.

Well at union scale pay I don’t think I’d mind so much. At the beginning of my career, as a piece worker, we used move everything for nothing... Boy was I young and stupid.

After 30-40 years doing mostly hard surface--------the overwhelming majority of hours you're on your knees-------I really didn't hate doing ANYTHING standing or walking for the same pay. When you do cove sheet goods/VCT/rubber or vinyl base/skim coats/carpet tile.........that's all day every day in the kneeling position with apprentices fetching and feeding. Union shops have to have apprentices or "helpers" doing that LEG WORK to compete and union shops do have to compete against each other. The art/science to being the foreman/installer in commercial was always about utilizing the cheaper labor and eliminating steps. You cant make money off journeyman when they're off their knees essentially.
Because of that it's really not so healthy-----on top all the dust, glue and chemicals. It was even something of a break to get to run the sanders as you're not stuck down there all day on your knees. Most people think sanding for prep is mindless but you know it's really importing to have your thinking cap on-----lean into the rough and glide quickly where it's already clean.

RUSTY???

One of the guys showed up before I did and hooked up his air compressor. He hides it in the closet to try and muffle the sound.

I unhooked his air line and ran it through my tank. It was pretty quiet on the job site today😁, makes it easy to hear numbers when they’re called out to you.

Part 2 of my fine day. Both pics are from the back porch of our current job, just taken at different times. You can see Table rock in the distance and the water tower is maybe 2 miles from a lot of other houses we do, I drive by it almost every day. I have an observation scope that I’m going to bring to work tomorrow. When it’s clear out you can see forever.

My van turned 5 1/2 today. Woot!

Talked to my friend and started looking for new computer parts. Going to completely rebuild. Only keeping power supply, blu-ray optical drive, & the 2 SSD cards. Already ordered a new case. Then found out about pcpartspicker and started using it. Because I'd ordered the case already I couldn't get the video card I wanted. Site told me it was 2mm too long. Already ordered the mainboard as well because it went on sale under $200 briefly.
This is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ZJDiy/saved/B6T9K8

I'm hoping the cpu fan will not obstruct the RAM. If so, I may have to send it back and get a different one.

Really started missing Nick while doing this. I know he would have been all over giving advice on the parts. I was getting advice from my friend but then someone banged on his door to tell him his mom is in jail. No seatbelt and possession of level 2 controlled substance. She's 50 and has apparently been using for a long time but didn't get arrested for it. Friend said it was only a matter of time before it caught up to her, but he's upset bc he already lost his dad to drugs (heart was weakened from using them from the time he was a tween). He's afraid he'll lose his mother too. She's a mooch & a thief but she's his mom and he loves her.

Saw a neat video on putting hardwood on stairs and setting up motion sensor LED strips under the bullnose.

I did some laundry, brought stuff in from the truck, cooked for Mom, scraped excess caulk off the shower wall, and took photos of the product boxes my shower/bathroom accessories came in. I'm a bit of a hoarder and hate to get rid of boxes bc I like to look at them as reference so I know brand and model names, but with pictures I can throw them out.

Finally have some time to get some of my stuff done. Wife took her bike to work and tipped over and hairline cracked her left wrist. She's off til September 1 but can't help with most of the stuff that needs done. Got our patio coated, now dump runs and painting.

Almost hated to put on my chop saw hood because the view was just right there. Broke down and put it on an hour later.

Had some down time while waiting for the electricians to rewire some can lights so I got to try out my bucket seat lid. Pretty comfy. Then when I got tired of that I went out to the gravel driveway that we all park in and started picking up nails. Damn!

What does the chopsaw hood do? Prevent stuff from flying everywhere?

Turns out the drugs they "found" on my friend's Mom weren't hers. Not the type she uses. They planted them. I'd normally not believe that, but its common knowledge in town that the cops here plant drugs on people. They are notorious for it. If they can't find proof of something to but someone, they plant stuff. I hope she requests the bodycam footage and asks for either dropped charges or a jury trial. Judge will automatically convict because judges here get paid extra for convictions. As an aside, its also common knowledge that the biggest drug dealer in town is a cop. He plants drugs on people who buy from other dealers. Friend thinks they are trying to squeeze her to flip on other people. The two things my town is known for: Drugs & corrupt cops.

I checked a site called pangoly that listed compatible cpu coolers for my motherboard and found the one I wanted won't fit so I am going with a smaller one. I've updated my list. Works out because its cheaper anyway. I made a new list for my brother for when he wants to build a new computer. His is having problems.

Just took my evening meds and am about to get some sleep.

Well I think I got my new car totalled today by a hail storm. Windshield is gone, top of the drivers mirror is missing as well a a panel coming down the rear corner. The hood and top and some of the sides looks like they took steel bubble wrap and jumped on it or a large ball pien hammer and beat the crap out of it. I picked up one hail stone in my yard that measure 3 1/2 inches across, a person in the sub had one 4". Also a window broke out in my garage and siding with holes in it. we have 2 major car dealerships in town and all their vehicles are damaged in some way. Some may have to be scrapped. Some that have sky lights in their home are just that open, to the sky.
