Whatcha got goin' ? Are you selling CJs Butcher Block Balm?

I started making my own butcher block conditioner. $22 for a gallon of mineral and $15 for 2# bag of bees wax pellets. That’ll make you maybe 160 oz of conditioner. This is so much more cost effective than buying it at $20 for a 6 to 8 oz container. I picked up some 4 oz containers from Amazon and I fill them up then give one to each customer so they can rub down their countertops as needed.

CJ, that looks awesome. I sent the pics and shared the info with my friend. He wants to do butcherblock countertops. He said to tell you he had the same faucet in his old kitchen. LOL. He's interested in the specific wax recipe.

Friend was complaining about his shower curtain clinging to him and how he hated the straight rod and needed to buy a curved rod. I reminded him he gave me back the curved double rod I got for him after I got him glass doors for his shower in his old house. I had the curved rod down in the workshop so I grabbed it for him today. Also grabbed him a ceiling fan box because he wants to add a ceiling fan over his bed. and my brother saw a Dobby the House Elf plush toy on clearance for $1 and it looks kinda like friend's ex. Got it for the 4-yr-old in case he misses his mom. He doesn't miss her but he liked the toy. Friend and his wife had a good laugh over poking fun at the ex.

helped him put the rod up and hung out for a bit. His wife is so happy having her own house with more space. She has her own sewing room. The house is well insulated. Her MIL isn't over there constantly stealing food or causing problems. Friend's grandfather hasn't been by to harass them (its hard for him to drive out there since the roads are narrow). They have 2 acres of land and plan to do some gardening. She was showing us the seeds she got for stuff she wants to grow. Oh, I also brought her a dark chocolate bar with vanilla bean and cashew (I mistakenly thought it was pistachio) butter.

4 parts mineral oil and 1 part wax. The oil will be measured in fluid ounces while the wax is measured in dry weight. All you have to remember is ounces though. 4 ounces oil and 1 ounce of wax, or 64 ounces of oil (half gallon) and 1 pound (16 ounces) wax. You get the idea. I haven’t done it yet but you can add in citrus oil for a pleasing scent. How much I don’t know yet. I’ll get there eventually.

You gotta be sure you want to go the mineral oil route before you begin because once you oil it, other finishes, like polyurethane, won’t stick unless you sand it back down to bare wood and start over. Another thing with going this route is you have to frequently reapply product to the wood. It’s easy and not too terribly expensive but it does need to be done otherwise the block will dry out and become susceptible to water damage, especially around the sink.

I like that 👍

I am doing finish work behind a one eyed carpenter. Mmm hmm.
If Bondo doesn't help JB Quick will.
If it's structural, this stuff is killer.

Well, I have plenty of kitty hair but not the Bondo type.. LOL.
Cats were hollering at me this morning wanting me to wake up and feed them. So I fed them and 2hrs later Boo kept hollering at him until I picked him up and held him for awhile.I had 11 of the cats in my room this morning.
It's chilly out so Princess and Fippy are curled up near me napping. Ginger is on my lap. I'm trying to motivate myself to exercise and do something productive.

I had a carpenter put underlayment over carpet once and wanted me to install vinyl over it. The most expensive he could find. When I walked on the floor, nails would popup. I declined.
Can’t tell you how many jobs I’ve replaced because someone installed lvp/laminate over carpet pad. 😂
It happens a lot in my area.

How lazy does someone have to be to put it over carpet pad? or are they just ignorant and think it would make good underlayment?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did laminate over carpet on one of those TLC or HGTV programs. I heard the Property Brothers do really terrible work. I find them entertaining, but there is a reason they never zoom in and show some of the details. They cut a lot of corners apparently.

Speaking of cutting, I cut up the boneless skinless chicken thighs to get my brother to make paprikash soup. The chicken cutting is the worst and most tedious part but I don't mind it. My brother hates it. He whines that his hands get too cold and sore or something. I put on gloves and use scissors. I did get a slight hand cramp but nothing to whine about. I told him the chicken was cut and he dumped it in and added the seasoning and other ingredients and turned the pressure cooker on.

I need to come up with more recipes for pressure cooker and air fryer. We still don't have a working microwave. well, we have one but I'm not willing to bring it in until we get rid of the roaches and Mom's desk is ground zero. I'm going to talk to her about letting me clean it up and see if she'll let me do at least some clearing off tonight or tomorrow. It needs everything taken off and then to be disinfected and have roach tablets scattered around. The cleaning and roach tablets have helped in the kitchen.

You can't own just one.
One in the tool bag, one in the hot glue gun box, one in the trucks tool box one in the house..... maybe one to lose? 🤔
Way to nice to leave at Habitat Restore, especially for $2. A nice vintage Proto and not one of the slippery chrome plated ones. Silky smooth operation too.
.......I can stop any time I want to.
...I don't have one in the kitchen drawer yet.

Took my dog to the vet. She will have to be put to sleep after 13 years. I am not taking it very well.

Darn it. That’s never easy. We have an older dog that is coming to that stage sooner than anyone wants.

I found a nick in my tape today. Had to cut a V in it. I’ve got some scotch tape at home that I’ll wrap it with tomorrow. Guess I’m buying a new tape after all 😂 No more of that 35’ business, I like a 30’ tape so that’s what I’m sticking with.
