Best part of that outdoor shower is I already had most of the materials layin around from remodeling the house. I had to buy the corrugated metal and plastic for the walls n roof. I eventually upgraded the shower curtain to a door cus the wind would occasionally blow the curtain in or out depending on which way it was blowing.

I also picked up a claw foot tub so the wife could take an outdoor bath. I use that tub more than she does. Works great for when you’re sore and need to soak in some hot water with a drink in your hand.

Back in the 80s people were tearing out clawfoot tubs and throwing them away. . Then some decorator starting putting tham back in Victorian homes and the price went up to $1,000 each.

I like that look so much better than houses with marble pillars, shrubs carved to look like poodles and chandeliers the size of a bus.
Really, I like that.

Yes. A house you can actually live in instead of some place that is so nice that you feel uncomfortable and don’t want to touch anything. I’m kickin my feet up and havin a beer.

That one was $400 and I loaded it up from somebody’s garden. It needed a serious cleaning and I repainted the outside. Maybe one day I’ll reglaze the inside.

......or even spilling it. And one of them fancy schmancy houses you about have a heart attack if you spill your beer. In a comfortable sit-down house you just wait for the dog to lap it up.
This place is pretty nice but there's no marble pillars.
It has my seal of approval.

The only thing objectionable is that it's within a couple feet of the tsunami zone. I'm only at about 80 ft elevation. If the big one happened today I'm not sure if somebody's equipment would get washed off the cliff or simply rinsed off.
These other photos are taken a quarter mile away from where I'm working and I'd probably get swept off my feet. It's also at about 80 ft.

Looks like it could get pretty rough there

Had a few in the older do up houses and been asked to lay vinyl under them aint gunna happen
Why not get the vinyl put down then install the tub?

See those rocks out there off the shoreline a ways?
That used to be land all the way out but it's kind of washed away over the years.
Not in my lifetime, but I suppose at one point in his lifetime Daris may have been able to walk out there.

Insurance companies here are getting very picky insuring coastal properties and this could make things worse
https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2022/03/18/antarctica-heat-wave-climate-change/

We’ve only been keeping records of temperature up there for the past 65 years which means we pretty much don’t know **** about **** when it comes to our own climate. We know the earth has been significantly hotter and significantly colder over the past umpteen thousands of years as well as the earth goes through cyclical changes that we either don’t know enough about or aren’t told about so I’m not going to go out and kill myself over ‘climate change’ just yet.

Speaking of that, if there are those out there that truly believe that we humans are the cause of all this calamitous climate change, how come there aren’t more suicides? What, nobody wants to do their part? Or murders? Maybe that’s the next ‘green’ movement, killing your neighbors for a better tomorrow. Now you gotta watch out for roving bicycle gangs of murderers, with cards in their spokes. How about an organized cliff jump in the name of Mother Nature. What about selling tickets to skeet shoot at volunteers. Now we’re raising money AND helping the climate. All we need are the bungy sling shot rides from carnivals. Zip lines will work as well. Parachuteless sky diving with a BOGO special. I got ideas.

Gee you must have extra long arms as I could not reach the wall behind the tub let alone to try and lay the vinyl even by making a pattern of which I didnt even attempt :)
You do this kind of thing in your sleep Jon, you'd probably do this one freehand. 😁 I ordered four drones from Amazon and my plan is to just lower the thing into the glue. 😁

Well it fit the tub and the walls just hunky dory. It was good and snug on the ends but that shrunk back a tiny bit. Not an issue because it will get covered up anyhow. Anyway it's looking good. Just have to drop in the piece that goes behind the toilet area and I'm done for the day.

I have a funny idea.....
.....not sure if the customer would laugh very hard when they first came down to visit for the first time in a month or more.
What would happen if I put two pieces of blue tape on the far side of the room with the words do not step written on them, just like they had done when the floor was rotten. 😁

the outdoor shower thing looks cool. My issue is that the old valves for the fugly avocado green shower are not compatible with any of the fittings we have for reconnecting the new pex lines up. Would need to find adapters. But we have a whole new shower to install. We need to get some waterboard (purple water resistant drywall), plywood to repair the floor. I was thinking of doing some support boards where the floor is weak with joist hangers and then putting 1/4" plywood over the entire floor. We should have what we need for drains and such. Already have the valve, trim, etc. I'm debating whether or not the showerhead should be installed above the direct-to-stud walls or lower down. Showerhead has a 19" long slidebar and my mother will need to be able to reach a handheld on it while sitting. I think the shower walls are about 76" high (that might be with the shower base but I'm not sure). I'll have to get Mom to sit in the shower on the shower seat and see what is comfortable for her to reach.

I actually like the Victorian style homes. I wouldn't want anything too fancy but I like the cathedral style (sometimes called eyebrow) cabinet doors. I prefer raised panel ones but flat panel are good too. If there is any room I would want to be fancy, it would be the library (yes, I want a library in my dream house). There's a house in Alexandria for sale for around $1.2mil that has like 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a fenced in yard, a little chapel (which would become a storage shed) and a big library. Everyone in my immediate family has wanted a library. I'd have the chesterfield style tufted leather couches, recliners, office chairs, and matching dog beds. It would be a cat free zone though. We are also fond of bay windows with seating.

I went back out again and worked on the weeds some more. Put more of a dent in them but still got overheated.

Got my brother to take pics of the puppies on my lap.
