I always wanted to make one even tho I'd probably never really use it...... It would be cool just bending a piece of oak or maple into a pretzel simply to watch it happen. 👍

I test ran the steamer for maybe 30 min after I completed it. I’ll find a nice piece of something to steam tomorrow and give the steamer a full run. If nothing else I can always heat up tamales in this thing.

Put drawer pulls on and installed a table yesterday. Needs cushions, curtains and a couple mattresses and this trailer is ready for an adventure.

Doing a test run on some bent pine. The pine came 3/8” thick. I planed 1/8” off the back side so now I’m only steaming and bending 1/4” thick material.

I made a form that matches the profile I want. Steamed some boards for maybe 20 minutes then clamped the piece in place. Works pretty good. I clamped the test piece for maybe 20 minutes. It springs back slightly when taken out of the form but is still springy enough to work when I go and test fit the piece in the trailer. I feel good about it and am confident we can make it work. Now I have to find a way to speed up the process so we can make it work in a timely fashion.

I installed the carpet metal when working with my brother in the..... Mid 80's? 🤔
I'm glad I've always made accurate radiuses and square/ parallel sides when installing metal.
I installed the XL Flooring, Drop-n-Done planks directly inside the metal edges. I made a pattern of the first piece, cut it 1/16" big, them beveled back the plank edges to get as tight a fit as I could.
It's just layin' there and fit tight enough it's not movin', not even a 64th.
I used both a utility knife and a brand new ******* file to back bevel the 1/4 inch thick flooring.
No way was I pulling the metal.
It's an architects office, so no way was I riping out the metal and installing 1 1/2" flatbar with mitered corners.
These planks covered up old, badly sun burnt vinyl.
He had 7 planks.
...I needed 7 planks.
I used 7 planks.
Yeah, a little scary. 😁

Nice fit! Did you make it official by sealing it with a bead of silicone?

....fly by wire? 😁

Drive by truck. I’ll bet your S10 could pull one of the little canned ham style trailers.

I did a European lightweight model trailer a while ago that the customer was going to tow with their VW bus. Them things got like what, 68 HP? I just Googled it and it’s more like 50 HP for them old POS VW’s. Can’t imagine the towing speed or experience is all that great but it’ll look good in you’re driveway😂

Bad day yesterday. It was super windy and brought the power lines together that run over the top back of my garage and sparked dropping sparks into the dry leaves catching them on fire and melting the viny siding on the side and back of my garage. I got the fire out before the fire department got here, they told me good job. Luckily I hadn't put my hoses up for the winter yet.

Good thing you were home and paying attention.

Sompin' is coming my way.
Lightning Tracker App just sent an alert.
Good to get in the shower I suppose.
I'm here, and headed there.

Naw, didn't do that, but I did think about it.
The pieces can be lifted out in about 15 seconds and reinstalled in 30.
I should have taken a photo of the sun burnt vinyl.
I showed the client, (a friend) what I was doing. He's happy as can be. Silicone would lock it in ....so ideally, is skim coat it, then glue it, then silicone the edges.
He had extra material from 4 years ago and just wanted it slapped in.
I have it a slap+

Oh wow! CJ that steamer thingy is impressive!

Highup, that flooring install with the curves around the metal is also impressive.

Daris, glad you were able to put the fire out but sorry your siding melted.

I need to get some siding replaced on my house. Need to see if they even make the same siding anymore. I've heard there should be a barcode somewhere on the backside of the vinyl pieces. I'll have to look at the ones I salvaged from the collapsing barn, but not today.

Not only did the weather not cool off, it started raining. I don't have a strikeplate on the back door so it managed to blow open a couple of times. I need to install a good strikeplate but when the door is open the rain blows in. I had to prop something against the door to keep it shut. AC isn't working so its been miserably hot AND humid inside. Hotter inside than outside and its been in upper 80s outside.

I somehow lost a day or two with being overheated and exhausted. Had to trim Mom's toenails and put antifungal stuff on them. Miss having a working microwave but have been cooking on the stove a little bit more. I hate it. LOL.

My sister sent me a pillow for my birthday and it finally arrived.

Nice Work Daris 🙇‍♂️ 👍 was there an electrocution risk ?

Old neighbor had a similar issue with melted siding. His hose was not around, so he beat it down with a broom.

Beive me, I check very good to see if any wires were down. there weren't. I think that some wiires from the wire above had fine metal wire in the protective jacket that were hanging down was the cause. You would see it arc and then sparks fall off, and of coarse the leaves are falling like rain and a spark fell into them. Supposedly the power company is to send someone out to access the damage this next week. My insurance company says it it their problem, so we will see how this plays out.

Spelling correction 😉

Daris, I've found that insurance companies will almost always say it was someone else's fault/responsibility to get out of paying for it. Electric company will also turn around and say that it's on your end and that you have to pay to fix it. I had power company people refuse to fix something that was before my meter-- so it was on their end-- and they said I had to hire an electrician (although they gave me the number for one) and tried to say I would have to pay for it. Fortunately, when the electrician got there and I told him what was going on, he said "This is on THEIR end" and refused to bill me for it. Wish I could find that guy again. Lost his number. That was back before I had a cellphone to store numbers in.

It's still hot AF out here. 82 outside 84 inside. I'm sweating. Just put the new repair strikeplate on the back door. Discovered that my new locksets did not come with strikeplates-- which is surprising for how much they cost-- so it's a good thing I got a 4pack of the repair ones. Used my new Spyder bits to predrill. Biggest problem I had was that the box with the new strikeplate fell and one of the screws disappeared into the nether. I searched for it with a magnet stick to no avail. Then I shifted to Plan B-- find a screw from another old strikeplate. I knew my brother had taken off his old strikeplate and saw he used the new screws for the new one so I searched around his door and in the hallway with a magnet stick until I found one. It was shorter but stronger than the new screws. New screw started stripping out-- old one did not. So, strikeplate is on and door is secure. Now I need to clean up the hallway. I wanted to steam clean the carpet but not when I'm already sweating so much.

A few years ago I helped a customer do some finish work on a large triangular TV shelf he'd designed and installed in the corner of his living room. He had pre cut pieces of a special orange colored wood to fit the stepped face of this corner mount TV holder-upper. The top was a dark gray granite called leather..... a smooth but pebbly surface kinda like spray wall texture. It turned out really 😎
When all was completed, he asked if I knew anyone that could use his old TV, 70" Sharp Aquios. He said it works just fine
I said, he could probably get a few hundred bucks at a garage sale or just advertise it.
Nope, he just wanted it gone.
Well, my place is small.... but the TV "got gone" 😁
Sharp made the first 70" Flat screen and this was it.
He gave me the owners manual and the receipt from Walmart was in the instruction book also.
$2499. 😱
That's been a few years ago and the picture is still beautiful. The buttons on the remote have been getting harder to push, soooo.
...it was time for a tuneup.
Took it apart and cleaned everything with warm water and Windex, then cleaned the circuit board and contacts with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a butt load of Q-tips.
That was the easy part. This second part, I did to my Optimus stereo remote a few weeks ago.
You can buy a bottle of graphite or do as I did, slowly scraping the lead from a #2 pencil until you have enough to do the job at hand. You very carefully re-coat every contact on the silicone keypad with new graphite.
Man, does this remote have a lot of em. 😳
Most aren't used, but.... gota do em all at this point.
I used a Bic click pencil as an applicator. You dip the pencil lead into the pile of graphite and a tiny amount adheres to the exposed lead. Using it like paint brush, you lightly rub it on each contact. It takes two or three dips into the graphite dust to apply enough for each contact because very little sticks to the pencil lead. You just go back and forth and round and round till the contact has a little shine to it, then move on to the next one.
When I got done with all of them, I kinda slapped it against a paper towel in case any of the graphite fell where it shouldn't be or if there were any loose particles of it.
The off on switch was the worst, but hot damn, it's like new again.
Works great and they keys are sensitive again. Ain't YouTube the greatest creation ever?
👍👍👍
