I don't do a lot of black & white photography, but some subjects lend themselves to it...

Forget the Swan, check out the shapes and swirls in the water, quite hypnotic.

I was already hypnotized. I drove by and thought for a brief second that the birds were real and I’m totally gonna let my dog poop on that grass, she likes pooping in snobby neighborhoods. I walked up and laughed when I realized they were decoys. Not a bad view for being in the city.

Looks like it needs turtles, gators or an airboat zippin by. We have those lilies but not many places that big.
I saw a phone during Amazon Prime week and it was $200 off.... I had to 🫣
Got it a week ago,ade it functional late today.
It still has all my apps to finish loading, but I'll do that tomorrow at the shop using their Wi-Fi.
It's a Pixel 8. I wanted if for the camera but have had it long enough to know how to use it.
I just did a quick test as it was getting dark..... it was a lot darker looking than this shows.
The phone has some fancy stuff but I have to load the high tech photo program using Wi-Fi at the shop. It's 428mb 😱😱😱 It's magic eraser on steroids..... AI stuff. I can make you disappear kinda stuff. 😉
Maybe I'll be able to take half way decent photos with it. Not sure about the zoom levels, but close stuff ought to be good.
Film at 11
....not sure which day 😁

Quick test with a close-up. My Motorola couldn't do this. I need to get a grippy case. The Pixel is glass on both sides...... slippery. But I'm liking it. I'm heading off to see how long it takes to download the photo program on Wi-Fi.

Ok boys, I’m winding down vacation in Cape Charles for the fourth year in a row. 😎 Mostly bad weather, but then again too much sun can be overkill. Anyway, here’s some photos of the week. Sunsets, dead Dolphin 🥲, Mojito happy hour, and an amazing Paella, delicious 😋 from my nephew and his lovely Southern Bride. It was amazing.

Is that wooden or real?
It's a real Mandarin duck. Although I think whoever edited the image may have done some alteration in color, because the head plumage doesn't quite look right. It's pretty easy to do in Lightroom or Photoshop though. You can completely change a color, say from blue to red or you can alter the color in saturation and hue and change a color from Navy blue to sky blue for example. It was a good clear photo though. The photographer did a good job of getting a low angle so that the shot is almost at eye level with the bird. Often times when people take pictures of ducks or birds they stand up full height and shoot down at an angle. It can make a good photo, but you can see much more of the color and it's a more inviting shot when you can get low like this.

I had to dig through my tools and get my knee pads out. It helps me get these low shots. Never thought I'd wear them again, but hey, whatever it takes.

You can also use a ground pod like this one...I have one of these and use it as well. The only downside is you either have to lay down to look through your viewfinder or you have to use "Live View" on your LCD backscreen to see what you're doing and focus on your subject. I added a 7" monitor and I use live view on that so that I can see what I'm doing if I'm using that setup. It mounts in my hot shoe where the flash goes and it's tiltable so I can move it where I can sit on my portable stool and see the monitor without laying in water or mud. :) Oh the things people do just to get a good picture.... 🤣 🤣 :);)

Many guys are now using those fancy fishing Kayak's to get these low angle shots. I have a couple of photographer buddies who have crazy Kayak setups just to get these low angle shots. One buddy of mine calls his Kayak "Stumpy" and when he posts on social media he always references the shots him and "Stumpy" got that he's posting. Needless to say, most photographers are as crazy as most of the flooring people I know. :)

Amazing Southern Oregon sand artist, using a metal leaf rack and a handful of volunteers, was on Sunday Morning program today. Hey Highup, how close is that to you and have you been there ?

Kinda simple, and silly, but yet a perfect way to bond with nature and share it with others.
