Highup, I used MSPaint. Drew everything out using line & shape tools. There is a curved line tool where you can set point A and point B and then grab it somewhere to make it curve that I used for some parts. It will probably be a tighter squeeze than it looks in the drawing though. We don't have the space saver yet so that is something that will change.
I watched some videos by a guy from Bourbon Moth Woodworking. He showed how to make cabinet carcasses, drawers, & doors. He's entertaining as well as informative. He showed how to cut dados using just a table saw without a dado stack, which is something I found useful. If the lumber is cheaper than buying a pre-built cabinet, I may try to make my own space saver.
Rusty, at least you can start a chainsaw. I've always had trouble with anything that uses a pull cord. I have short arms & when I had to start a lawnmower, I would have to push the lawnmower forward with my foot to get a long enough pull & always had to try several times to get it going. I don't think I could even hold the weight of a chainsaw while cutting- I've gotten that weak. My strength was always in my legs. I could leg press about 250lbs & I could do curls & bench presses back in high school before I had my first heart attack (I was still in high school when I had my 1st one).
Those TV shows where they show people cutting up trees make it look so much easier than it actually is. Oak is particularly tough to cut.

Wish some of you guys were out in my area to get lumber from the trees that fell. Couple of decent sized oaks toppled over. So much wood going to waste.

And I buy firewood by cubic metre which there is about 5 or 6 sqm m to a truck load
https://ignitionfirewood.co.nz/south-auckland-firewood-4/NZ$200 equals about US$133

Here in the US we go by cords of wood. A cord is 4 ft by 4 ft by 8 ft. I'm guessing a cord of hardwood is around $200 to $225 here.
Zan, that's pretty fancy using Paint. I've never researched on how to use it. There's more tools than I thought.
I stopped by a local pawn shop today and bought me a new toy. I have a butterfly wrench but it's a cheap one and not very powerful. I'm trying to find information on this little bugger. It's just a 3/8 inch drive, and if I'm reading the serial number correctly,
137765, this was January 3rd 1977....... But I could be wrong.
I can't find any information on it. I'm curious how many pounds of torque it has. Being a small one, I'd guess 40 to 50ish
It's a Blue Point model AT300A. These were sold by Snap On.
I can find images online and even a rebuild kit, but no information as to the power output or care instructions such as oiling and greasing it.
The Habitat restore had a 10 to 150lb torque wrench. It's a no-name brand, just says Taiwan. Hey, it was only $7.... so I had to get it. 🤗 I have a 50 to 250lb Proto and it's a lot longer. So this smaller one, if it's accurate, might be a nice replacement for my old twin beam one. The twin beams have a needle that points to the torque settings. This and my Photo are click types.

Spent some time today freeing up the air control on my new to me impact wrench. The inside parts were just sticking from a thin rusty film. The clearances are pretty tight, so it took very little gunk to stiffen it up so it wouldn't turn.
Been spending a lot of time trying to find the correct grease for the impact part. Google keeps directing me to Ingersoll Rand grease. 🤬
Somehow I came across a video of a larger bodied Craftsman impact wrench being taken apart for cleaning and re-lubing. Tho larger, the innards design looked a lot like my small Blue Point.
In the comments section someone said the Craftsman was made by the same company. Guess what? Unlike most wrenches, these use straight non detergent 30 weight oil...... not grease. Add an ounce or two of oil, run it for 30 seconds, then drain it. Good to go with whatever amount is left inside. Cool!

Next project was taking my old butterfly wrench apart for cleaning. It didn't have much power, so taking it apart and screwing it up wouldn't be a huge loss.
Turned out successful and I may take the Blue Point apart and do the same. The parts are so very much the same, it ought to be easy...... an hour or so to clean and lube it.
Been kind of a fun day accomplishing something that's not vinyl or fuzzy.
The old butterfly wrench sounds a lot more responsive now and the power has improved. I think it's usable again. Hurray.

I'm sad to hear about Sean Connery. I still remember him as Ramirez in the original Highlander movie & then as a Russian with a Scottish accent in The Hunt For Red October. Of course I'll always remember him as James Bond too. I hadn't realized he was that old.

I hope your cousin will be OK.

I wish I knew someone from the north or an area where they need firewood/trees that I could contact to come harvest wood. There is so much going to waste. Companies could make a killing out of coming to harvest downed trees to use for firewood or even lumber. They could get paid to clear it away AND sell the wood.

Highup, good luck with that butterfly wrench. I've never heard of one before.

I've been using MSPaint for over 20 years. They have added some cool new tools over time. I just remembered they have a "skew" tool where you can draw something straight & then skew it to a different angle. I should play around with that more often. The shape tools are neat. They have heart shape, cloud, voice/thought balloon, lightning bolt, star, triangle, rhombus, diamond, stars, arrows, etc. Circle, line, and pencil are what I use the most though. Fill tool comes in handy as well. I'm currently working on drawing the opposite side of the room from that bathroom. Trying to guesstimate the door size & how much room will be left for the shaving station. I need to measure that old medicine cabinet & figure out the best place to put it. I can probably re-use the blocking that frames it out currently.

I'm also trying to figure out the best place for electrical for the washer and dryer. I just had an idea bc I have a recessed TP holder in the exterior wall currently. If I can pull that out it might be a good location for outlets. I may re-purpose the tp holder to hold a hand towel for the shaving area. It can sit below the medicine cabinet & shelf. Or I might find some other use for it. There won't be enough room for it next to the toilet & I don't want to cut a hole in the vanity- although I suppose I could and the tp holder wouldn't stick out as far. I need to see what kind of condition its in though. It might be too tarnished.

My brother has an electric razor. He has a shaving kit thing in a black case that should fit in the recessed medicine cabinet. I think most of his accessories can fit in there, but the razor would be out. I think he also has a shaving bib that can connect to the mirror with suction cups to catch hair. He liked the idea of a shaving station. I'll probably have to talk to him about whatever accessories he uses. I was thinking of getting this to hang below the outlet, but it would require having the outlet high enough. Since it's plastic it won't get water damage, but it could break. So, I was also thinking I could use some scrap wood from the workshop to make a painted shelf. I could cut a hole for electrical cords.

Things I know I want to include for the shaving station:
  • Recessed medicine cabinet
  • Shelf above medicine cabinet with undermount slim LED light bar
  • Shelf below medicine cabinet to hold razor, accessories, hand towel, shaving bib (maybe a hook or something for the bib?)

Any other suggestions for the shaving station?

Ordered chestnuts online 3 weeks ago. Were supposed to ship last week. Hoping to get them this coming week. They are really tough to get hold of. Shortage is related to Covid in some way. Almost everyone is out of them and there never was a big supply. The ones in the supermarket are crap. I bought 5 lbs, roughly $50 total including shipping. My Toyota goes in the shop on Wednesday. The motor on the running board is almost dead. It won't come out hardly at all. Makes climbing in really tough. I'm only 5'2" and the SUV has 20 inch wheels! Anyway, the farmers have started fertilizing nearby and I can't even begin to describe the smell. I'll get nose blind soon I guess and I got Hepa and charcoal filters indoors. I'm playing Farming Simulator so the smell makes the game seem more real! LOL.
