Do they actually sell hoods for saws like that? Looks like part of the top of a stroller or baby carriage. LOL.

Fastcap and Rousseau both make chop saw hoods. The light on mine is acting up so I called Rousseau to order another one. $20 for the light and they are shipping it to me for free. Not bad customer service for something that I’ve been using for over 5 years now. Does a great job of containing the dust. Not 100% but at least 85% to 90%.

I made this miter saw station for my 7.25” slider out of left over material I had laying around. At first I thought it was big n clunky but I find it’s my go to cut station now unless I have to break out my big saw for either capacity or accuracy.

I’ve been wanting to make one for one of my 12” sliders but I just can’t bring myself to pay for the plywood.

I like the support you made in the last image. I'm guessing you're a fan of the woodright shop......... Except he would have used wooden screws. 😁

I'd love to see some of Roy's projects where he did them on his own time instead of squeezed into a 20 minute long show. Even though I don't really do much woodworking I really enjoy watching those shows.
I have a well-equipped woodworking shop. Wood is just too expensive.

Somebody told me that one of the reasons wood is so damn expensive is because Trump repealed NAFTA. Haven’t looked into the validity of it yet but whenever I drove down 101 I would see the closed down lumber mills. Or whenever I drove across the Longview bridge I would see all those trees just waiting to be shipped overseas. Might be time to bring some jobs back home.

I have heard there was a lot of wood coming from the south and much of it is under water. But who knows?
I do know that several states and the feds are wanting to raise gas taxes. Biden's transportation secretary wants a tax per mile driven. With fuel already going up that will raise the price of all goods that are shipped. Plus, more and more acres are becoming restricted from logging. Japan was buying a lot of American lumber at a high price, that might be helping to drive the prices too.

Logging is going good down here. Sometimes my drive to work takes me by a chip mill. Trees go in and train cars of wood chips go out. Paper? OSB? It’s goin somewhere for something.

You got to blame Pelosi too because she said the new trade agreements were better than NAFTA.
There's a ship in town about half a mile from where we're working that's almost loaded with logs. I'm better they might have it totally loaded by tomorrow night or Thursday night.
I tried to look up the name of the ship on a shipping website but this ships information is only available via paid satellite access. That's no problem because tomorrow I can stop by the bay and look at his name and find out where it's from.
There is only one place in the bay that loads logs. There are two locations that load wood chips. one of the trip piles and getting pretty tall so I'm sure she's going to be coming in any day now.
In the 1960s there was 30 to 50 ships per month coming in and out of here. These days it might be four to six per month. We used to be somebody. 😔

I can’t really say one side is better than the other, they both have their down sides. Maybe we can put them all on a cruise ship and sink it. Kinda like turning your letters in in Scrabble. Take your chances and start over cus this hand sucks.

You could blame Pelosi, Nafta, Trump, Jesus..... whoever you want really. None of it would be overly correct. I mean it is simply a matter of supply and demand. There was a supply side slow down as mills were shuttered, trade from China was backlogged and a boom in construction. That is simply a clusterfuck of epic proportions. There is not the capacity to regain the time lost and voila, price increases. It definitely sucks the balls but what ya gonna do. Prices are sky high in Canada too and I do not think that is the fault of anyone south of the border and as much as I would love to blame my inept government, this time I do not think they have a single thing to do with it.

.....or wood chip container ships. It needs to be neither pretty or comfortable. 😉

Hello, Diablo.
Any way to get your current blade re-sharpened?

I’ve got so many blades that I prolly won’t have to worry about running out of sharp blades until the end of the year at least. I think I paid around $700 to have them all sharpened in 2017. I’m seriously considering buying my own blade sharpener.

Sharpening your blades is cheaper than buying new ones and they are way sharper than when they come out of their package.

I have sharpened chain saw blades and lawn mower blades, never tried anything else.

I read reviews on a harbor freight sharpener. Every review said it was total crap. I think mostly because of the sharpening stones being way too rough.
Buy a real sharpening machine and start a sharpening service on the side.
