Well screw that. He thought I was just coming over to look, I guess we had a miscommunication. I'm not sure why, because I came over and looked at it month and a half ago.I decided to schedule a fun job today. I put cortec in a living room, kitchen, and hallway of a home a year or so ago. I went to measure up the two small bedrooms which are his and her office spaces for the same material.
They decided to leave them carpeted, but he wants the plank flooring to go into his office closet where he's going to put his gun safe.
My job today will be a 2 ft by 7 foot closet. I'll have to remove two mirrored doors and the track to accomplish this monumental task.
I just hope there's enough room in the back of my pickup for the tear out material. I'd hate to make two trips.
It's going to take longer to load my tools into my truck and put them back. Oh well, I got $150 minimum so who cares.
He's putting new base in there so I don't even have to mess with that.
I've managed to be working enough I'm just eating regular food again.
Highup, very interesting history on that area and the chain is very cool. I would say it may be more likely to have been used in logging than in shipping. Not sure why I think that. But who knows. Maybe it was for hauling logs off of ships. LOL.
Stayed up all night because my brain wouldn't let me sleep and I worked in sketchup on a design for my friend's kitchen. I opened an older file where I had done cabinets but it was before I knew about hitting an arrow key and typing in the measurement to make sure it locked to an axis and went to a specific distance and before I discovered the offset tool. Made the cabinet faces much easier. No longer had to measure from each corner and draw lines manually. I could use offset to make the doors 1" smaller than the frame, then draw lines to separate out doors from drawers and so forth. Then I could use offset again to get the stiles & rails. Push/Pull tool to add depth, etc. So one by one I got measurements from the old cabinets and rebuilt them and then selected all of the parts to save as a group. That way I could have each cabinet as it's own group to make it easier to move them around. I also learned about intersect model function so I could put a sink in a counter and it would let me cut out holes for it. After I rebuilt each cabinet (and the countertops) I moved them over the exact spot of the old ones and set them in place then hid them so I could delete the old ones. Then I downloaded some appliances & stuff from 3dwarehouse. Got a sink, faucet, side sprayer, dish rack, microwave, fridge, stove, etc. I built my own range hood since I didn't like the ones they had. Didn't add any light switches yet.
I built up the walls somewhat but I still need some exact measurements to get the walls and doorways right. Put in a floor (they don't have much in the way of patterns for floors though- I might have to download some or figure out how to make some). But it looks pretty cool. Friend said he loved it.
Unfortunately, he has to quarantine bc his gf's mom got Covid (and had symptoms while watching the baby). She was sick so friend's gf went and picked the baby up & then found out her mom has Covid. The mom has major heart issues and husband has end stage COPD. Not good chances for either of them. Also means baby was exposed and so was the gf. So she could have it now and she has some health issues. I'm worried my friend will get it. He survived it once earlier last year but that was before the blood clots and stroke. He's going to have to quarantine again and miss work. Not sure if the gf will be able to miss work though. She may lose her job. I know neither one of them want to be tested for Covid again.

I use Purina Cat Chow. Been using that for 30+ years. I did get the special diet stuff for one of my elderly cats before she passed. I sometimes get Friskies canned food but haven't been giving them much of that since the prices went up and cans got smaller. I used to get the Purina Pro Plan treats for hairball. Got some for tooth care. And some for protein. Friend of mine has had cats that lived in to their 20s and she gave them the protein treats. I believe she has a cat that is about 23 now. I didn't see the treats available for awhile and also, my cat Itsy always found the treats-- could open cabinet doors to get to them and would eat them all. I also used to get Vetri-Lysine tubes (works sort of like a syringe) where I would put out a specified amount of the lysine paste with some sort of meat flavor and give it to my late cat Captain Fluffy. It helps with the feline herpes virus that causes eye gunk & stuffy noses. Also is good for their fur. I should probably start getting it again for Rupert. He has no teeth so he has a tougher time. I sometimes have to mash his food up and add a little water to it to make it easier for him to eat. But he loved the lysine stuff.
Since today's job fell through I went home and lubed and polished my tool.

I didn't know if you greased these or oiled them. My tool is a large one so I greased it.

I was competing with Alec Baldwin and his Schwetti Balls routine from SNL. My writer isn't as good as his.
I'm not losing this one. It's as good as it was when it was new 60 or 70 years ago. I'm not used to having nice stuff like this.
Since my friend is in quarantine I bought groceries for them-- fortunately I had just bought diapers for the baby. Got them some rice, meat, veggies, fruit, water, etc. Need to get them some bread and lunchmeat but wasn't sure what kind they wanted (they forgot to ask for bread & the type of lunchmeat they wanted was not in stock). I need to go to Samsclub soon so I can grab them some bread, lunchmeat, and some vitamin C drink mix. Since I don't want to spend much time running around the store, I've decided I will order online and have them set my stuff up for curbside pickup. The heat really gets to me.
I found I can even order groceries. I can get the bread and everything we need.
I took screen shots of my diagrams of my friend's kitchen as it currently is (although it's a lot more cluttered)
The dishwasher he has doesn't look halfway as nice as this one, but I couldn't find a similar looking one no 3dwarehouse and I felt too lazy to draw one from scratch. If I get bored enough, I might. But I'll probably do a real-world project-- like finding my circular saw attachment and cutting a board to size to use to mount my new monitor. Old monitor will be set in a box for safe-keeping. I really need to get the miter saw out of he car port and take it to the workshop to see if it still works.

Current layout (there is a microwave on sitting diagonally at the corner of the L shaped counters & a lot more clutter- there is also a giant window behind the sink but right now it is covered with an ugly curtain and Reflectix:

The dishwasher will need a casing built around it. I can use some cheap 1/4" plywood and some 1"x2" boards.
I'm probably boring people, but I haven't found an avenue to discuss my DIY/planning stuff with other people much. LOL.

Thats looking really good mate. I gotta say, thats more work than I would put in. I am about to do my kitchen and I just use the Ikea kitchen planner LOL

The dogs eat Purina Beneful Incredibites (small bites). I think there are two flavors: chicken and beef. We get whatever is available.
Sometimes they want something different so we have Cesar small breed filet mignon.

Are lumber prices coming down?
I knew futures dropped 40%, just wondered if the actual prices would follow.
home desperate has moved their 2x4 price from 10.59 to 5.88 here in the last 6 weeks. Its more or less following the percentage of the futures back down to 400.
I need to replace the fascia on my garage. Can't wait much longer.
You are looking at a other 6 weeks before prices stabilize me thinks. But I'm ok for now paying only half of the height pricing. It still gouges me that a 2x4 is more than 2.50 but I will survive.
