Z, you can use some wall anchors, mollies, in between the studs for more support. Prolly a little more permanent than booger tape.

Talked to the boss last night and told him I was making good time on my job. He told me to pace myself which is code for next week is slow. No problem. It’s 11 and I’m taking my first lunch. Prolly take my second lunch bout 12:30. The warehouse guy is delivering my base today bout 1 so guess I’m leaving right after that. Suppose to be 106 today so I got another date with the pool this afternoon.
To clarify, the "booger tape" is only to help keep the board from sliding out of alignment when I am trying to attach it to the wall since I won't have any help to put it up and it's in an awkward spot I will then screw it in to the studs. I don't have drywall and I don't think toggle bolts would hold in these thin wall panels. Might just rip right through them.

I ended up not feeling up to going down to the workshop in this heat.

I heard from my friend's gf and she's really upset because they are firing her for having to be out with Covid. She was officially exposed on the 4th and has been quarantining since then. The clinic told her to quarantine for 14 days. She started feeling sick toward the end of it. Her employer is claiming she should have only quarantined for 10 days. This is the message she got:
1629934707636.png
Note, that would only have given her 8 days of quarantine, not 10 because these stupid mofos can't do math.
Also, she has made every effort to get her doctor to send the Covid positive test and notes about her having symptoms for a few days prior to her going to get tested for a 2nd time. So, basically they are making it so that she had 5 days of missed work prior to her test results coming in. Which gives her the 5 points they need to fire her.

She's desperately trying to find another job before her car note is due next month. Walmart won't hire her because she doesn't have a GED, Sonic won't hire her bc several years ago she worked there & they didn't bother to train her and supervisor fired her on her 2nd day without even telling her why. They won't hire her at a few other places because there are some people who know her and don't like her. She's trying to see if McDonalds will hire her back-- they sort of fired her after she had a seizure and fell & hit her head bc they told her to keep working when she told them she felt dizzy. They didn't even call an ambulance. I wish I could help her but my mom can't stand her. Poor kid is really trying.

If her test comes back negative for Covid I may see if I can go with her to talk to her doctor's office to get her records printed out as well as get a note saying she was advised to stay out for 14 days. Her boyfriend tested positive for Covid within that time period so, IMO, it could have reset the timer on her quarantine. But they are being major jerks.

I FINALLY GOT THE SPEEDOMETER WORKING!!!!

So, I have been fighting with my instrument cluster in my 92 civic engine swap for about... oh I dont know, since the day I put the engine in?? Well earlier this year I got the Tac, the fuel and the temp. Those are of vital importance. Then a little while back after driving in the pitch black of my interior for 400 km after 12 pm I decided to sort out why the instrument cluster lights did not work. All this while I have had no speedo, none what so ever, which really is ok since I can equate the speed to the tac and that is that. Thank you GPS speedometers.

Well, tonight gentlemen I finally got it to work. Figured I would go out there and give it the old collage try, so to speak. Tested the voltages on the speed sensor in the transmission, I know for a fact my ECU reads it because the car will throttle down when it sits stationary, but one never knows. Then I got to thinking that there must be a break in the wire somewhere between the VSS and the cluster.... I couldn't find it. When you cannot find something, the next best thing is to run a new one, so that is what I did. Just ran a 12 gauge wire between the VSS and my Speedometer and lo and behold, BOOM BABY. I can now officially tell the cops, yes, I do know how fast I was going.

I understand for some people this might not be as exciting as it is for this person, however I began this journey with 0 automotive experience so every new discovery is monumental.

Maybe their dogs have gas & they have bad body odor. :p

There are a lot of people in my area who should wear masks anywhere they go- not for Covid, but bc they are ugly. :p

Someone said "Let's face it, some of the people are mad about being told to wear masks bc they've been asked to wear them before-- or paper bags over their heads"

I'm waiting for it to be time to get up to go to my dental appointment. Takes an hour and 10min to get there give or take a few depending on traffic.

Toilets are heavy, can be slippery, and are made of porcelain. If you don't lug them or install them for a living, you risk damaging them. You have every right to tell them to get a plumber to do it.

Having to set toilets and not being a pro at it (and having a bad back) is why I got a Toiletmaster Lift jack.

Plumbing related: How do you guys feel about floor drains in laundry rooms with vinyl plank. One plumber said he wouldn't recommend it but didn't say why. I was thinking of having it just drain out from under the house on one of those receptacles where gutter downspouts pour out in case there was a bad leak. I was thinking of putting some sort of mesh over the end of the pipe to keep bugs/rodents/critters out.

I arrived at my dental appointment a little early despite getting stuck behind a cement truck going 30mph in a 60mph zone. They took me in early and gave me the surface numbing gel, waited several minutes while she talked to other patients, then came back for the numbing injections. She managed to hit the langual nerve (which didn't hurt but felt weird) so it felt like the needle went through the very edge of the side of my tongue but the needle wasn't anywhere near it so it was the nerve transferring the sensation. Kinda neat actually.

I was in and out in under 45min. She did a great job on my tooth. I couldn't even tell where the broken part had been. This visit was cheaper but next visit I'm getting 3 fillings on my upper teeth. Just a few more to go after that. I'm going to take better care of my teeth so they don't get this bad again.

that's fair.... because in all honesty, a crooked flange isn't really much of an issue, thats why we have giant stuffed wax rings. Plumbers are just as SMRT as we are ;)

The reality is I get $25 to R/R a toilet for the shop I work for. Take the cost of a wax ring off the top, and possibly a supply line, then my 1099 tax load off of that and I’m making what? $10? Not to mention that the water to the house is shut off. Now I gotta go outside and look around for the meter, turn it on while hoping nothing else in the house leaks, do my reset business then go back out and shut the water off??? That’s a whole lotta work, and liability, for a piss ass $10. Not to mention now I’m undercutting a plumber and they’re one of the protected trades. See where I’m coming from now?

$10 that is probably not even close to the $100 or more a plumber would charge. plus if you got a leak its your neck that would be in a noose.

So you can see why I don’t have to look very hard to find a reason to not reset a toilet. I’m gonna have to look into Arizona codes n regulations . Other states and shops I don’t touch water. PERIOD. I’ll hand you the wrench to disconnect it yourself or I’m goin home.

Technically, it violates code here for anyone but a plumber or the homeowner to set a toilet.

Just before lock down I was asked to go with salesman to see why the glue was still oozing up between the planks in the toilet
When we got there salesman pushed the planks down and all this white stuff came up like water mixed with the glue. The owners of the houses rep asked why would the layer lay over a wet floor? See blame the layer :)
Maybe there was a leak from when the plumber hooked up the toilet???
We left and now the plumber will be paying for the vinyl plank replacement after he takes the toilet out, let the floor dry out, relay new vinyl planks then he goes back to re fix the toilet pan
This is why we do not touch plumbing. If a plumber cant get it right what show does a layer have?:)
Also I am pretty sure even the house owner is not covered by the house insurance if he does any plumbing work, electricity in his own house here.

I just got off the phone with an inspector for the state of AZ and it’s the same here. See how simple that was, looks like I don’t have to ever touch a toilet again. Now if only moving furniture was illegal…
Told them that if I wanted to move furniture I would go to work for Atlas Van Lines.

Furniture sucks but I’ll do it because I do get some sweet jobs. Unlike doing carpet or sheet vinyl, with floating floors I don’t necessarily have to empty the room. I can shuffle things side to side. I do draw the line between moving furniture and moving stuff though. My customer a couple weeks ago got mad because I made her empty her china hutch before I moved it. She was also pissed off because I didn’t make her bed after I took all the sheets n stuff off so I could flop it around the room. I don’t hook up electronics either regardless of whether I am the one who disconnected them or not. Sometimes you just gotta stand firm and say no.

It's perfectly reasonable to take everything out of a cabinet before moving it. Don't want the stuff toppling over and breaking (also making the thing heavier). I tried to make things easy for the flooring installer when we had to get the flooring done in our house many years ago. Our stuff hadn't been shipped from overseas yet so that made things easier. I pulled up the carpet & pad in the bathrooms & tossed them out and even scraped up residue on the floor. I also removed all of the broken parquet flooring from the hallway, laundry room, and guest bathroom. All we really had in terms of furniture was a desk and a couch. I couldn't move either of them. The desk was very heavy, but the installer didn't complain. He knew our situation and how our tenant had screwed us over. He even helped us when we were trying to put insulation in a wall where the previous owners had removed a front door and put built-in-shelves. I do think some of it was him being neighborly since he is our neighbor. Really nice guy.

Looks like we might get hit with a hurricane in a few days. I'm hoping the storm will die down instead of build up. I really do not feel like messing with having to get all the water buckets refilled and get a bunch of MREs or something. I don't want to have a power outage and be without water and AC with this heat.
