Mult-purpose room isn't ready in this school but they still want the administrative offices done. Same pattern. It's blue today.

Today we finished another one. It was green. Next one is over 100 cartons. I can't wait to see what color it is. That's about all I get for excitement on these. It's getting redundant.

did I spell that right?

From what I hear there's at least a couple more weeks of this. You never know what to believe.
That looks more like CHAOS than redundant... Looks like you are getting way to comfortable with this job. :D

Metal door jams pain in the neck with VCT
Nice job. I worked for a shop that had the school contract for a few years, can't say it was my favorite...literally pallets of VCT lol

Is that last janitor closet in old cove flashing/epoxy ?

The slop sink has some sort of epoxy coating coved up. What a mess. I think the abatement crew was using that sink. They're quite a bit cleaner than most crews but I guess it's near impossible to get the glue, solvent and kitty litter out of all the nooks and crannies. The door jambs are a MESS with the residue on and underneath. I clean and prep around them as well as I can or I am very sorry I didn't when I have to make the hot cuts.

I've had a guy working with me and I usually let them do all the hot cuts. Today I was by my lonesome and had to do them myself. Takes time to do them right.

BTW, most of the frames in these old schools are wood but they've got residual asphalt asbestos tiles under them so you can use an undercut saw without the whole abatement set up.

It's close by my home. I know where I'll be for the next couple weeks or so. Your truck can be parked immediately where you are working, within 50 feet or so. No hard hat, safety glasses, vests and boots. This kind of work is extremely easy for me. It's what I did most of when I started the trade so it's right in my wheelhouse. I'm working at my own pace.

It doesn't get much better. Yes. I'm comfortable for once.

I've got one more tile bath to do upstairs for a single mom living with a sweet handicapped grandmom and daughter. I also fixed her water damaged laminate when other contractors told her to rip it all out.

I did a carpet seam repair today.......... and just like 99% of the seam repairs I've ever done, (besides an ugly seam), it would have been 100% preventable if the installer would have sealed the seam.
Nope, seams don't need to be sealed.... It's a total waste of time.
Money in my pocket I guess.

The day before, I did a repair because of some carpet staining. The carpet was a dense, cut pile nylon and pretty nice stuff. It was 10 or 15 years old. The repair to be done was a 6 foot by 7 foot area in a 14 by 16 foot bedroom.
One length of the repair seam was 4 feet out from a sliding glass door. There was a seam two feet out from the door which showed. It most likely showed when it was first installed. That seam wasn't sealed. I removed a number of loose primary strands that were sticking up so the seam wouldn't get any worse.
I spent over 4 1/4 hours trimming and sealing the three sides of the carpet to make new seams and sealed the repair edges as well. I did that by row cutting from the top side............ weft and warp!. Relatively straight in both directions. Well made carpet if I ever done seen one.
I told the homeowner the seam nearest the door would probably show because of fading and would be somewhat visible. I told him the seams in the traffic area would show a little too.
I created 20 feet of seams into this room insetting this repair section. The original seam showed and my seams came out virtually invisible. (patting self on head at that point) :D
Had the original seam been thermo-sealed 15 years ago, it might have turned out nice too. I tell you what......... I'm a 'huge' fan of thermo--sealing for a lot of reasons...... drying time is non existent and the seams don't peak. The job looked like a disaster waiting to happen when I first saw it.
I was amazed that the fading issue ended up almost zero............. This old high end nylon carpet beat the crap out of a "comparable" looking PET material in both wear and fade resistance. Charged the old fella $175 and he didn't bat an eye. He told me that if I was happy with it, he was happy with it. I was. Nice guy and a fun day of work because I didn't think it could have come out so nice. (pinching self this time) ouch! :D The job made a nice end to the week.

Beats Smart-strand. That carp it's partially made with corn sugar instead of petroleum) of triexta is named Sorona. Currently, Mohawk is the only manufacturer who produces PTT

If it is over 3/4s of a inch it will mat , and after cleaning x amount of times the face will get crusty .

Same old same old. Last year we did two blue ones. This year it was two blue, two orange, one green and then this red one. The shop has a few others going this week and I think there were a couple more other guys did that I never saw.

100 cartons plus walk off mats (15 cartons), reducers and cove base (5 cartons).

2 coats of Ardex Feather Finish with P-51 over the sanded slab.

This was Day #2 but I was there for an hour or so Friday sanding just to fill out my 8 hours after finishing the previous (blue one) roundabout noonish.

You can do these in your sleep now, Right In ?:)

So a few people have straggled in and asked me the same question about the "random" pattern as havasu did. Now I'm telling them all it's a computer generated random effect that I had to memorize on the first few schools and now I've done so many that I've got the pattern down pat. Then I tell them it's the IBM Randomizer 3.0 program in case they want to create their own random designs.

Then I go back to laying tile. I had the apprentice believe it for a minute. You should have seen the look on his face.

He's REALLY not working out. I let him prep yesterday for about half a day. The floor was worse when he was done than when he started. I basically shot myself in the foot.

Anyways Monday I'm going to another district to lay a basketball court with the 12MM Mondo. I'd rather stay and do these but...........not my call.
