I lost my train of thought because the phone rang just before I was about to reply.
Rusty, I hope the infusions last longer this time around.
Highup, that looks like a hot mess to deal with to take that bump out of the floor. My mother's room has a bump in the floor that we can feel. I suspect some sort of support slipped and something is pushing up in that spot but I could be wrong.
Havasu, I love your pool.
My aunt Mary lives in Arizona and said it was 115°F out there.
Currently it's 91°F here, cloudly, and 56% humidity. I haven't been outside yet. Mom has an appointment at 3pm so I need to get up eventually. Been exhausted.
Took almost 3hrs to get to the wedding venue on Saturday. We made it to my sister's hotel room to change clothes and then gps for my truck got me lost trying to find the venue. Turned a 5min trip into 15min trip. Ended up being a little late. Then we spent another 5min trying to find the right door to get in to the megachurch. Finally found it and slipped in the back during the ceremony. Bride and Groom almost never took their eyes off of one another. Instead of turning to the officiator, they were looking at one another and holding hands most of the time. Officator had a good sense of humor, laughed nervously a few times, and after the rings were on they did communion and some other dude gave a speech. He kept fumbling his words but it wasn't a bad ceremony. I think it was about an hour. I mostly focused on watching my cousin's son and trying to spot family. I was sad to hear that my cousin's oldest daughter didn't come because her dad was invited. There is a mutual hatred between them. Pretty sure if she'd shown up he would have disrupted the wedding to scream at her, tell her she's going to hell, etc. Uncle told us we missed the prick giving a speech before the wedding where he took credit for planning/organizing the wedding and for how well the groom turned out. He didn't contribute a dime or anything to the wedding and the groom turned out well despite his hypocritical ass. Uncle was particularly annoyed about the prick quoting scripture and acting all pious. Dude is a liar, cheater, adulterer, and generally a scumbag. He my cousin and their daughters throughout the marriage. He was glaring daggers at my cousin and looking miserable during the mother-son dance at the reception.
As for the groom, my cousin's oldest son (2nd child), he's a very sweet and intelligent young man. He's in the Marine Reserves now and stopped at every table during the reception to sit down and talk to guests and thank everyone for coming. He stopped at our table more than once to talk with us and see how we were doing. The bride is also a sweetheart and very intelligent. She's about to start her residency for medical school. She had the idea to have a nerf gun battle during the reception and that was a lot of fun.
My uncle seemed very sad and lonely at the wedding and beginning of the reception, but he cheered up. There was one point when the wedding party was filing out of the church in pairs. Cousin went out with her fiance and then my uncle got up and no one was there to go with him (his wife passed in October) and he stood there looking for someone, appeared to say something to the air, and then sort of put his head down and walked out. It broke my heart. i wish I'd been close enough to jump up and go escort him. He's moving around very well considering he broke his hip in December.
Mom didn't use her wheelchair for the wedding but needed to use it for the reception. Trying to get through the buffet with her and still get my own food was a pain.
It was great seeing my cousin, meeting her fiance, seeing the 3 younger kids (who are now all adults) and meeting the bride's family. The bride's mother brought cake over for us after the groom cut the cakes with my uncle's sword.
We got tired enough to leave maybe 20min before the end of the reception and sat in the hotel lobby for a few minutes. Uncle came in and showed me his sword more closely. He talked about his old house in Clifton NJ and I asked the address. I pulled it up on street view and showed it to him. He said the roof used to have wood shingles and there wasn't a sidewalk there before.
I was exhausted so sister gave me her room key and I went up to take a nap. I think it was 11 or 12 when they woke me up to drive home.
Didn't get home until after 3am and I went straight to my bed and racked out.
Sunday we waited for sister to get in town to go hang out at friend's house. Stayed with her until after 11pm before going home again.
Monday I went to the store and took my friend to get a new battery for his car as well as some oil and a filter. Got him some donuts and cupcakes for his birthday, which is today.
Today I've been resting. Got a cat curled up on me.
TL: DR? I went to a wedding, had a bit of a family reunion, and have been running myself ragged. LOL.
