I'm blaming it on work and election relief.

That’s what I’m talking about. Stub your toe on that and there’ll be some blood for sure. Damn near half of the box store base you’ll see is 8’ sticks of that Mylar wrapped crap. Even pre primed MDF can be sharp like a mofo if you’re making crisp, clean miters. You all are making crisp, clean miters aren't you?

I take a steel rod (a screwdriver or similar will work) and rub it up and down the point of the miter at maybe 10 degrees, both sides. It’s just enough to ease the sharpness. If you’ve ever sharpened a card scraper it’s kinda similar to rolling the burr. This is also a neat trick for stain grade if you have a slight gap in your miter because you’re off a half degree and you can’t caulk it.

It never formed perfectly to the wood, so you absolutely needed to make outside corners in sequence from the same piece.
Horrible stuff to work with. For inside corners, coping, assisted by a sanding drum on a Dremel worked good.

There is no weight on that pipe to pull it down so I don't know why it dropped. But my friend said he thinks he disconnected it to get it out of the way while he was running waterlines and that it didn't take when he reconnected it. Thus far it seems to be holding (I've been checking).

JB Weld is great. I had a pinhole in my stainless steel sink that was leaking water out. I got a metal washer, JB weld, and gorilla tape. Used the JB Weld to get the washer to cover the pin-hole and then taped it up with Gorilla tape to reinforce it.

Tire appointment on Friday didn't go well. Showed up for the 8am appointment a few minutes early. Found out it was canceled bc tires weren't in yet. They came in at 11:07am later. Store was supposed to call when they came in. 1pm I check and see they are in but not ready. I called and they pulled them and said I could reschedule appointment that day for 4pm (earliest they could do). I get there at 3:55pm to be told the computer rejected my appointment but they would work me in. I was still waiting over 2hrs later. Apparently the shift change with employees happened and new guy re-organized the papers/order of the jobs and put mine last. He disappeared for a long period of time so I couldn't ask for my keys back to leave and come back another day. They didn't even pull my truck in until 6:45. 7:20 they told me my TPMS sensor was broken and asked if I wanted it replaced for $20. Sure. Saves the time and $ of having someone else do it. Around 7:30 the truck was finally ready. They were supposed to close shop at 7. Brother called me 2x bc Mom kept asking when I was coming home and she was hungry. She wanted McDonalds. Waited 20min for McDonalds food, made sure order was right this time, and headed home. I fed kitties and racked tf out.

Today I had to be up to wait for AT&T tech to come check my landline. I told them it wasn't on my end but he had to look. He needed directions on how to get out here as gps was being pissy. He laughed about the house with the deer statues out front and how it was all left turns like NASCAR. His equipment told him the break was 6 miles away. He said he'd come back in 15 to 20min. 30min later the landline was ringing and he said he found the problem near the highway. Lid wasn't closed right and wires were hanging in the wind. He had to reconnect them and put lid on right. So, looks like someone tampered with the box. Again. For some reason landline goes out every time it floods.

Took my friend to HD to get supplies to fix up the house he's buying. I think he's jumping the gun. I'm worried the bank will refuse the loan after he's spent several hundred to fix it and almost $700 for an inspection. So he'd be in the hole around $1200 on it. He already lost about $700 on the house where the seller reneged after the inspection was done. But this seller is willing to work with him and will pay closing costs.

Noticed the LVP in the master bedroom was curling up and warped in spots. I think it was put down directly on top of concrete. Probably no vapor barrier. Can moisture cause that? He wants to replace it with something waterproof and thicker.

Tire shop nightmare, wow.
The LVP might have a cork sound deadening type backing. a local market had some installed. The previous owner had the employees mop the floor with Pine Sol and a rag mop every night ......hey, it's waterproof, right? That's the way it's advertised and sold.
The floor started cupping and some joints started failing.
The new owner doesn't do that wet mopping and the flooring started to flatten out over the following months. I'm amazed it hasn't totally failed. It's Coretec with a cork backing and no vapor barrier.

Finished my stairs and molding installs Saturday. It takes way too long to "stick in" a couple of bullnose moldings. First, you have to trim the existing structure so that it's straight.
Here's how I attached the pieces.
E-6000 to adhere the trim, but to anchor these in place until that adhesive cures, I left gaps between the beads of E-6000 to apply some spots of JB-Quick, like I did on some moldings a week earlier.
I applied 3 lines of the clear E-6000, not just one like you see here. Just wanted to show the gap placement for the JB Weld.

Important:
Before proceeding, ready your phones stopwatch and Fox and Friends on YouTube.

Now, apply the 6000, then put the molding in place.... Remove it to flash off.... Quickly mix and apply the JB in the designated spots.... (Not too much)
...click the stop watch
...click on YouTube
...put the molding in place
...rest hands elbows and forearms lightly where the JB is
...watch YouTube
...after 4 minutes check leftover JB Weld to see if it's about hard
(It isn't)
...reposition hands elbows and forearms as before.
...two more minutes and you got it. JB will be set up.
That's about it

Stopped at Goodwill tonight. They're on the expensive side of 2nd hand stores, so I don't stop there much. I was just lookin' for some fabric material to hang over the Kitchen/hall doorway to save on the electric bill. Found something in the linen section for $12. It'll fold a few times plus some snippity snip.
They had a pair of USB, LED lights I thought might work by my desk or maybe in the back by the drill press.
....it was a matching pair with separate off/on switches.... Looked new including mounting screws and they have magnetic ends. $6.99, 30 little LEDs in each one....
...aw what the heck.

Got home, plugged one in.
BLACK LIGHTS.... OH, MY, GOD, do I have places to clean up.


I also bought one of the two dimmable photo/video light panels. I'm going tomorrow to buy the second one.
They are sold as a pair and are 5200 kelvin lights with diffusers.
I didn't realize what the little light panel (3" by 4 1/2") was, aside from being dimmable, it's a 5200K light.
5200K the color temperature of daylight.
That's a good thang photography wise. I watched a YouTuber make a slide copier gizmo out of plywood to copy his slides using his cel phone. Lighting, especially color temperature, is a HUGE issue in doing this.
Anyway, the second light will probably still be there tomorrow.

Here's the black lights.... Not sure that to use them for yet..... But NO way am I taking it into the bathroom. These are pretty bright.

Funny thing, at least funny to me, is this trailer came to us because a cactus fell on it and crushed the roof, and I do mean crushed. That’s one hell of a cactus!

Lipstick on a pig, Polish the turd , that’s the maintenance men’s job day in and day out….. I used up an old bag of gypsum patch yesterday. Had to remove the hydraulic ( cementitious ) patch the maintenance Man used last time.
I shot hot glue ( cartilage ) into the joints first to stabilize the movement. I forgot to photograph the completion but here’s a different area.

Today’s job was a re-stretch in Lr, Dr, Hall + Br. in an occupied apartment. Carpet was installed 12 years ago by a subcontractor who is well known for not power stretching. I use him on a very limited basis because of that. Anywho, it took me 3.50 hrs. ….. Ok ! Here comes the fun scruples question, using the above question as your guide. Should I bill for the service ?

My off the top argument to myself sounds like this: I shouldn’t bill, since it was not installed in a manner recognized universally as industry standards. However, if it was installed power stretch industry standards, then I would be more inclined to bill for the re-stretch.

I’m the one who hired the none power stretching guy and history ( the past 21years ) tells me that 99% of power stretched units do not wrinkle….. In case you did not notice, I’m diving deep into the ‘ manner ‘ or methods used and how they matter when discerning liabilities. Carpet install or other human services.

Let’s do a hypothetical : Old lady neglects to inform retailer about wrinkles in a timely manner and the installer neglected to use the power stretcher . Lady trips falls down stairs and dies. When litigating the law suit for liability, the means and manner will most definitely be a factor during judgment time…… If you were on the jury what percentage of liability would you place on both parties ?

My discernment would be to place a claim number on the retailer + installer jointly because they created the hazard, but then subtract 25% due to the woman’s neglect to inform. However if the installer could prove they power stretched the carpet and have a history of delivering none wrinkled carpets, does that knowledge of industry standards delivered change the percentage of liability ? Say to 50 50 ? or even 100 % onto the dead lady ?
