Hasn't Corlon got that word we are not allowed to talk about as a backing? :)

It would have had asbestos into the 1970s and possibly early '80s from what I've read. This building site is only 20 years old so this could not have been installed before 1997 and I think it's the 2nd floor covering in that room as I see multiple base adhesive types. The style and writing on the backing also tell me this is a newer version of the Corlon backing-----certainly from the 21rst century.

From my recollection, and I've torn out quite a bit of Corlon that was installed with the solvent based Henry 356 it would have never come up so easy you could read lettering on the backing. Generally even with severe moisture that was causing dramatic failures MOST of the backing would have stuck strongly to the substrate and been an awful strain to scrape off. The backing nearly always stayed down even with walk behind stripper machines it would only skim off the surface layer and then we would have to hand scrape the felt with 4" razors. Unless the slab was really hardened and smooth inevitably you simply could not get all the felt out of the rough sections.

I don't know how/when the changes in the backing took place since they were forbidden to use asbestos. I believe they went to fiberglass more recently. It was many years not seeing or installing Armstrong Corlon until they starting printing the backing in this way you see from the photos. So it's a much newer product in my estimation-----less than 10-15 years old I'd hazard to guess but maybe someone else here would know precisely when they made that change.

Yeah, it did take 8 hours. OK, 7.5 on site and I get 1/2 hour for dragging the sander (0n my way) back to the shop.

No trips to Home Depot.

Looks good IN .

The photos look better than real life. The reason this warehouse is replacing the carpet and sheet vinyl is an employee complained about..........the dust, filth and stench of the old flooring affecting her health. Not sure where it comes from but there's a black soot like dust everywhere. So as I go in an out and across from unit to unit/room to room that black dust/soot is tracked into the newly installed flooring. Armstrong has REALLY cut back on the factory protective coating. You can't tell the top from the bottom visually and it's gtting harder and harder to tell even by sliding your fingers to try to feel the wax. So that soot IMMEDIATELY starts darkening the pores. I better stop.

I doubt they'll ever even clean, damp mop, buff and put a couple of protective, initial coats of wax. So it's better than CARPET and even sheet vinyl with a fiberglass back BECAUSE it's porous on the one hand but easily cleaned should anyone ever be inclined.

Job 1, finished a doorway by installing strip, then tucking in the carpet, job 2 was 30 miles out of town to re-glue a Coretek stair nose trim that had fallen off, then job 3 back in town to put in thinner pad at a wide bathroom doorway adjoining 12 by 18 marble. The door wasn't adjustable so the original installer just omitted the pad under the door so it would clear.

And the police are taking credit for the capture.:(

"When the homeowner heard the men outside, he and a neighbor came out with weapons of their own. They held the fugitives at gunpoint until police arrived. Dubose and Rowe had left their weapons at the crash site, authorities said"

"TBI Director Mark Gwyn said the bravery and cooperation of multiple law enforcement agencies led to the capture of the escapees. He said some people in Georgia were probably breathing a sigh of relief tonight."

Just read a report on a forum where those two killers from Georgia were caught by two armed homeowners. The media is ignoring that part of the story.
Fox News reported the homeowners were responsible.

And the police are taking credit for the capture.:(

I read that too. Hopefully those homeowners get the reward $$$.

First the sander broke------handle snapped right off.

Then they sent the wrong color.

Driver goes and fetches 18 cartons of a different color.

STILL the wrong color.

Bossman calls a bigshot with the school district and get the OK.

F' it. JUST LAY IT.

Of course the police will take credit. LOL.
I remember back when they had the Cuban Riots here and INS actually talked the inmates in to surrendering and releasing the hostages. Not only did the BOP warden claim that he and his people had resolved things, the FBI also took credit for sending in a taskforce even though their taskforce just sat outside planning and never actually did anything. So, the local news reported the warden as the hero (even though the riot was his fault). National news reported that FBI saved the day. And the warden then filed a complaint with the government to get INS in trouble for something that was his mistake (he failed to listen to INS about turning off the inmates' TVs so they wouldn't see the news that a bunch of Cubans were going to be deported-- inmates saw it, panicked, and rioted. Meanwhile the warden was drunk at a party and refused to respond when his people called him. A whole bunch of BOP officers quit and joined INS after that.

I've been down with the stomach flu the last few days. Still have stuff to do though. Had to take my old dog to the vet for a B12 shot and bath. She's down to 43lbs now and I had to carry her in. She can walk, but she is slow and didn't want to follow and I didn't want to drag her. She gave me a scare because she wouldn't come when I called her to get her medicine for a few days and I couldn't go out with my ankle in bad condition. I was well enough to go out and saw her lying in the car port with flies buzzing around her. I walked over to check, she smelled the cheese cube and woke up. She moved to the driveway after that. My ankle is still tender so I drove over next to her, opened the back door, picked her up and set her in, and drove to the vet. Had the AC blowing in her face the whole way-- she loves cool air. I need to see about getting her some senior dog food to feed her separately from the other dogs and feed her inside so my brother's hellbeast doesn't get in the way.

Hey Cog, 3rd photo down, the one with the Swiffer leaning against the wall. What's with that door hinge? Looks to be a piano hinge if I'm lookin' at it right.

That's sad because everyone here are friends. I don't recall political stuff ever being locked up or deleted (until recently) When rules aren't enforced, then there aren't any, right?
Just remake the reminder in bold print and lock up anything that gets started. It will end when the lines are drawn in cement instead of blowing sand.
My apologies for my part in this. I never knew any of this was being taken personally. It's never been personal to me when others don't agree with me. I guess the typed/written words don't convey our real feelings. For me the sparing has been fun, never out of anger.

The kids are going to have fun walking on the differently colored tiles.

Sorry to hear about a friend quitting. I know politics can be a sore point, but I thought people were respectful in the discussions I saw. No name-calling that I can recall. I hope he changes his mind and returns.
