What did you do today?

Wrapped up about 1300 sq ft of glue down lvp today. Myself and my installer friend with one helper to keep us both moving. Half of it was take up and disposal of glue down carpet the other half went right over the existing vct. Demo, prep, install, cove base/ calk and touch up.... About 18 hrs.
The building owner was so happy with it he asked me to measure up the suite downstairs. Love it when that happens!

These last few weeks and the next one coming have been all commercial. Love being able to get on a job and crank some tunes & do my thing without dealing with homeowners!!

Next week doing another glue down lvp over existing vct for an awesome guy that owns a Honda dealership and a Harley shop in my area. I really like doing work for him. He's a great guy!

Then after that I'm putting the tools down and taking the missus and kid to Florida for a few weeks. These last couple years have been good to me so I decided wtf, might as well. We can all use a little R&R.
The shop I do most of my work for had a great year as well. Stopped in today after I got done to turn in some paperwork and got a Christmas card. Opened it up at home and there was a check for $1000 along with a nice Christmas card and sweet note. Gotta love it when you're appreciated. I'm very fortunate to have people like that in my life!!

That is sooooo cool, and also, sooooo unheard of. I think a lot of shops really love some of their installers......
....but they neglect showing their appreciation in such a nice way.

Yeah, this shop is great to me. Last year I was whining about having to go out in the snow every morning to start my van..... They had a car starter installed for me! Really great people!!

I think they've had a ton of knuckle heads over the years. Actually, I know they have. Between drunks, druggies, thieves, hacks & degenerat's, their really happy to have the couple crews they have now.
I'm by no means god's gift to flooring installation but I show up when and where I'm supposed to and do everything I say I'm going to do! I average about one callback a year & it's usually something silly like forgot to calk something etc.

It's definitely a one hand washes the other kind of relationship. So you guys stay the hell away. I don't need any competition for this sweet gig.

For some reason even though we are using less internet than usual, our usage has been extremely high (as calculated by our ISP). Last month we went over the limit halfway through even though we didn't use more than normal. I think there's a problem with the modem or the server or something because it says we've used 80gb in just a few days. We only get 145gb or so a month (resets on the 12th of each month). Not sure what the problem is. But we can't load videos. Might have to call the ISP. I wish one of the other local wireless internet services would cover our area. As an aside, the coverage map shows us in a different town than our address has been attached to for the past few decades. Keeps saying we're in a town 12miles away. We're a little under 10 miles from the town our address has traditionally been attached to.

Went to samsclub and got groceries. Popped in to grab stuff I left at my friend's house. His girlfriend decided to help herself to a couple of handfuls of the q-tips I brought over (she put them in a little jar). Friend used up the clear gorilla tape I was planning to use. I might go with a different tape anyway. Got a gap in my window where the duct tape came off. Window was broken at some point and a piece of glass that was too small was put in the pane. It's over 1" short of the side edge. So 1" wide at least and probably 10" high. I need to patch it bc it's letting cold air in.

While at my friend's the little one-eyed kitty came to see me and wanted snuggles. He is so sweet. I cleaned his nose (he's got a stuffy snotty nose) and he loved it. Then he tried to play with a game on my brother's phone by gently dragging his paw on the screen. I wish I'd caught it in time to record it. He's so adorable.

Trying to pick a new lavatory sink for Mom's bathroom bc trying to refinish that green ugly thing would probably be a nightmare. Trying to decide between Proflo, Kohler/Sterling, and Toto. Each progressively more expensive. But Toto would match the toilet.

And I was worried about being throttled at 60GB this month.

Mark, reminds me of "The internet is very very great-- for porn" song. LOL. The wireless companies are offering 30 to 50mb download speeds. I get maybe 10mb down on a good day and 3mb up (also on a good day). My ping is never below 600ms. Just did a speedtest and my ping was 636, download 4.5mb/s and upload was 5mbs. So, higher than usual upload. I'm supposed to be getting 12mb down but it never gets that high. I have a "legacy" plan so the new plans for the same limit are $200 plus $13 lease fee that is taxed.

My router is password protected and it shows no other unknown devices. The signal strength isn't high enough to reach the neighbors anyway. They are half a mile away and it won't even reach the two back bedrooms. Those connections have to use a wired repeater to get signal. Neighbors are to the front side. I've checked the signal from the router on the front side and it ends before the front gate.

I think it's my ISP being crappy. They sell 1Gb (technically 1000mb) for $9.99 plus tax for people who go over the limit. They are probably trying to force us to buy more.

That's just gross.
I speed tested myself the other day and was mad at my 180mbps down and 90mbps up with my 7ms ping.
How can people even call that the internet? You might as well go get a 56k modem and dial away.

For the first time I put a speed thingamajiggy app on my phone and my download speed is 42 to 54. My internet is my phone so it's not a big deal for me because I don't have any trouble watching videos. 180 must be for gaming or 8000k videos?

I've always liked that movie even though it pulls out a couple of tears every time .....I'm a wimp.

I have an unlimited plan just so I can watch as many.....porch repair videos as I want!!

And Zan, you can get a piece of glass pretty cheap. That'll be better than the tape man. Do you own or rent?
