My brother has always had an inflated ego & Dunning-Kruger going on. He will never admit he doesn't know more. I still remember the time in college when he argued with me about the spellings and meanings of calender vs calendar. In front of all of the other students he was loudly calling me an idiot and telling me how wrong I was and how superior his knowledge was. I got out the dictionary and read out the spelling and definitions. He called me an ******* for humiliating him. I guess he ignored the fact that he was trying to humiliate me in front of everyone. LOL.

Had to deal with build .com customer service to cancel an erroneous order (I derped and ordered a lav with one hole instead of three). Lady was very nice. She's in California-- said allergies are murder in her office right now (came up because I sneezed). She placed the order for the correct lav (which I had in my cart) and applied a 5% coupon for me. Said if the vendor doesn't cancel the first one it can be returned, but they weren't even going to ship it until March so there shouldn't be a problem with canceling. I hope anyway.

I scheduled Mom for a booster shot. Very briefly talked to my sister to let her know I got my booster and so did my brother.

Early this morning one of my fatter cats came running in while I was still sleeping. Stepped on my head and then sat on the arm where I had the booster shot. It's only moderately sore so it wasn't bad-- but then he stepped on my ribs. Ouch. At least he didn't flop down and sleep on my head like one of my cats used to do. She wasn't a heavy cat so it was ok.

Going to have to wake mom up in awhile to take her for her booster shot. She woke up earlier, asked me to make her something to eat when I was in the middle of handling the order cancellation thing. I went to get her something to eat and she'd gone back to bed. I went to her room and asked her what she wanted. She said "Did you cook something yet?" I said "You didn't tell me what you wanted". I kept trying to get her to tell me but she told me to go away and let her sleep.

At least now my allergy meds have kicked in and I'm no longer feeling the urge to go ask for a Covid test just to get my nostrils cleared again. The best my nose felt in years was after they ran that brush up and cleaned out my nostrils thoroughly. None of the nasal sprays ever work that well to clear things up.

My kids were supposed to fly back home today but due to whatever BS is going on with the airlines their flight has been canceled and the next available flight isn’t till Thursday. The wife just sent them some money for a room until then. We’re all packed up and scootin out the door. Should be in Vegas by 7 PM and we have a room right on Fremont Street. There is a silver lining in everything and things have a way of working themselves out in the end. Should be fun!

Cant remember if I posted about this or not... my mind is not what it once was.

Anyhow, I managed to finally fulfill a life long dream of mine and that is to pick up a set of Lace Sensor Golds for my 1977 Northern II (Kasuga) 1977 strat copy. She was the first guitar I ever fell in love with and the first one I ever owned as well and me and that guitar have been through a lot together. Well the day finally came that I saw fit to order up these bad boys and my oh my are they wonderful.

I have a little bit of electrical I want to work out on it still, but everything works. The pups are only wired 1-2-3 on a 3 way so there is nothing there to blend them, but that will change. I want to add a mid boost and switch out the mini-pots for full 250k and change out the old capacitor for a newer 0.22uF orange drop. Maybe change out the tone pots for bi-s and wire something a little different all together on a secondary loop.

Anyhow... the thing sings like she always dreamed about and I could not be happier. It does pay to hold on to your dreams even if they are small and become forgotten for a time, they are always there waiting.

Had to do a bit of cut out to the old pick guard to get them to fit but no harm no foul. All went well

Back in the 80s worked for an old woman who, when she found out that we both played, she showed us her guitar. An early 50s, Les Paul Gibson, signed by Les Paul.

It was 82° out today & I was sweating.
Mom decided to act like a toddler. Got mad at me for not making her a vaccine appointment, then got mad at me when I made one for her- per her instructions, had a tantrum & refused to go. So I went and got mail, refueled the truck, and picked up sweet feed for the cows. They were giving me pitiful looks when I went out to my truck. Cows were happy.

Laminate countertop samples arrived. I decided to play a game where I handed them to Mom one at a time (she was in a better mood when I got back). I chose the one I figured she'd like the least first and saved the best for last. There were 4 samples. First two she was "meh" about. Very first one she took the time to tell me exactly what she didn't like about it. Too much green, flecks of black, etc. Third one was Wilsonart Lapis blue. She said "This is the one!" but I channeled Billy Mays "but wait, there's more!" and handed her Formica Spectrum blue. That got an "oooh" out of her. She instantly decided she liked that one the best (as I predicted- honestly, I liked it best too). So, now we need to compare it to paint chips to see what colors complement. Personally, I'd go with white cabinets, sky blue walls, and the spectrum blue laminate. But she doesn't want white. Cabinets are old plywood from the 70s so sanding them down and staining is not an option. Cabinets will either have to go darker or lighter, but she doesn't want too much dark. Matching to the countertop would look weird. Might do the shelves in a matching color to the countertop though. Or in Behr Deep River since I still have some left over. I'll have to see how spectrum blue compares to Deep River.

Saw a good doggy at Tractor Supply. She had glass blue eyes. She was a bit on the shy side but I got her to take a couple meaty bone treats. I keep dog treats in the truck in case I see doggies.

Only thing I've done with capacitors is when I built some speakers forever and a day ago....
....so long ago the foam has rotted out on the woofers. 😁
I put a woofer, two mid range, a tweeter and a 'super tweeter's in each one. To cut the range of the second mid-range, I added a capacitor. With two mid range speakers, Kenny Rogers sounded a lot better. I need a couple more woofers, but don't know the range of the ones I've got. I was thinking of a repair kit, but I've never done it before. Rather just get new ones.

Repair works pretty easy man. Building speakers is not a super complex affair. I will say though, a complete build is rarely if ever cheaper than just buying one. Foam rebuild kit on the other hand, cheap.

I like tinkering with things usually more than the things themselves. I can pretend I learned something useful even though I'll never need said knowledge ever ever again

How does a floor guy ever get his fingers to flex enough to play geetar. I'd be good at the revampin' part if I was told that to do, put playing involves memorizing places where my fingers are supposed to be so people don't throw chairs at me.

Spoken like a pro.

Your brother sounds like rather a turd.
The best thing you can do is just make some nonsense up and then wait for him to explain it better. Then politely just let it be known that it was all make believe. Nothing like making fools look foolish. I personally relish in it.

Jon, I can leave right now and come get you buddy!!
I think if I empty out the hot tub she can float all the way right down to you.

Hope you are well buddy.

Mark feeling okay but not able to work which is fine with me with all this BS with trying to work with all the covid conditions
Another thing I have always wanted to do is meet that famous flooring guy who is named highup who I would have liked to meet on a quick trip from Vegas. Well its only an inch or so on the map :)
