Jon, Vegas is just a tank of gas away for me but on the other hand I’ve never been to NZ so I guess we’re even. Mark, I’m swinging up your way this summer for the Rocky Mountaineer train ride, perfect time to escape the heat of Phoenix. You’re doing all this technical work for peanuts. I feel your pain. Come on over to the dark side and join me doing floating floors. We’ll make millions!

Buddy I am doing it because it is a hole I dug and a trench I have to fight my way out of.
Believe me, if it wasnt for the fact that I made the mess in the first place I would be running for the hills laughing all the way. My pride and integrity say I have to stand up for the man holding the bag on it all because I got us into this mess but I can promise you one thing for certain. Never, ever again will I undervalue myself or my ability and I will sit at home if you cannot afford it because neither can I :)

C.J LA is about a 14 hour flight from here so maybe I will need a little more than one tank full
If you are doing the Rocky Mountain Train get the Gold Leaf even though it costs more cause you get to take your luggage with you to the next over night stop. When we did it we got a day trip around Vancouver before we got on the train, along with one night at Banff of which didnt realize at the time as part of the fare. At the Vancouver hotel they gave us an envelope saying to leave our suitcases outside our room, I thought I am not that old yet, then they put the suitcases onto a truck which is waiting for us in the hotel room for the over night stop. Once again they give you an envelope as you get off the train when you get onto the bus to take you to the hotel with your room key so no waiting at the hotel to get booked in. I dont think you get all this on the down stairs part of the train also by being in the Dome you get an all around view not just getting a view out of a window like on a bus. We learned very quickly you dont look at the staff on the train when they are walking along the passage way as they stop and ask if you would like anything, best service we have had any where. We did get a free upgrade to the Dome as we booked a long way out. We also did the Alaska cruise with being upgraded to a balcony for the same reason

Jon, we did get the gold leaf package. To take things a step further I even told them I’m diabetic which gets you seated first for food service😏. Gotta know how to play the game, right. Starts off with a couple days of play in Vancouver before the train ride begins. When it starts we have a few different sight seeing tours including the Athabasca glacier tour, the glacier skywalk tour, the lake Louise tour, gondola ride and who knows what else all with a whole bunch of nights at different Fairmont hotels. I’m lookin forward to the trip. I’ve beat myself up enough over the years that I don’t feel bad when I splurge a little. Funny you mention a cruise cus I asked my wife if we should enjoy a cruise up to Vancouver as opposed to just flying up. Might as well go all the way if you’re gonna do it.

Mark, I feel your pain. I’ve endured many a self imposed punishment in my time until I stopped and looked around at everyone else around me making money AND sleeping well at night while I was eating **** but telling myself that I was the righteous one cus I was doing things right and not cutting corners. You can’t change the world but you can change your destiny. Floating floors changed mine. You just gotta un F your mind. I haven’t worked but 3 days since gobblers eve and I’m just fine with that. Spending time with my family is so much more rewarding than any technical cove job that I’ve ever done. The best part is the money I make doing basic bitch plastic floors more than pays my bills. If I didn’t do it, somebody else wood so I might as well take the money and move on. The world is gonna keep on turnin whether you like it or not. If you can’t beat ‘em, join em.

C.J you did the right thing with the Gold Leaf. People just look at the price without finding what is included in the fare. As I mentioned it was only when I checked and found out from the Travel Agent what was happening as the train wasnt going the day after we arrived at Vancouver that the day trip was included along with the price of the hotel with the Rocky Mountain package. The same at Banff with the helicopter ride i didnt realise that one night was included I thought the TA stuffed up by making the booking one night short so we paid for the extra night. Makes a big difference when everything is included so you arent putting you hand in your pocket for everything like Taxis etc. We did get to Lake Louise We also flew from Banff by helicopter to some mountain place beginning with a M Glacier
You will love the Fairmont hotels as we have stayed in a few around Canada, maybe the Quebec was one was the best
Cant remember the time of year we went but it was in the middle of the Alaska cruise season
Trips like the Rocky Mountain train and similar trips work out expensive for us when air fares are tagged on so to go cheep when you get there isnt really a good deal

The dream is just to live a good life man and I have been doing that since day one. I am a very simple man who wants for naught and is happy with what i have been fortunate enough to have.
I never envision marble floors in gold chandeliers I just keep on truckin'
...a log home overlooking a lake wouldn't be too bad though.
...or even just a little happy cabin with a babbling brook nearby to power the LECs in the house.

Mark feeling okay but not able to work which is fine with me with all this BS with trying to work with all the covid conditions
Another thing I have always wanted to do is meet that famous flooring guy who is named highup who I would have liked to meet on a quick trip from Vegas. Well its only an inch or so on the map :)
Depends on if the map is on your phone or if it's on the computer screen. It could be like 4 inches. 😁

My brother can actually be very sweet sometimes. We tend to get along most of the time but he has his flaws-- as do I. When he doesn't want to lose an argument but doesn't have anything valid to say he will get louder and louder repeating "I'm right and you're wrong" or some version of that over and over. He tries to get people to admit that he's right & won't shut the hell up. If we tell him to stop shouting he says "It's because you know I'm right!" Every once in awhile he'll realize he's wrong and smile and say "Lies!" but in a tone that makes it clear he's joking and knows he was wrong.

I'm the type who will admit when I'm wrong because I don't get my ego involved in it. When I say "correct me if I'm wrong" I genuinely mean it. I've seen the memes about how people who say that don't really mean it and get mad. I'm not a terribly competitive person so, while I don't like being wrong, I would rather have the correct information than continue to believe something wrongly.

As an aside, I found that when I used my real name when asking questions on chats or forums or whatever, I was met with condescending attitudes and rudeness. I found that when I used a male or neutral names I was treated with more respect. I had forgotten that the first time I asked a question in a chat on Build that I had chosen the name Zach so the chat person would be less likely to bs me. Even though I never logged in with that name, it was forever recorded as my name on the site. When I had to call customer service I couldn't remember why my name said it was Zach (until after the call ended). But CS agent changed it to Zane (bc she didn't hear me correctly that there were two Ns). But I find it amusing and will chuckle whenever I see it.

Left NY a couple days ago to the father in laws in NC. Hanging here a couple days and off to FL. 75* & sunny beats the **** out of 25* & 2 feet of snow any day!!!!
Got here and went to the store to grab a couple things and my debit card says unactivated. Called the bank and they can't figure it out so have to send me a new card. Luckily I have some cash I stuck in my bag for emergencies! They have to overnight me a new card to the hotel were staying at in FL so I can access my funds and pay for our hotel.
I literally haven't been on a "real" vacation in almost 10 years. This is how it started out.... Un freaking believable!!!!

If it went smooth, it wouldn't be memorable. 😉
I'm sure the rest of it's going to go off without a hitch so you can enjoy it. If I was going on vacation I'd probably look at a map of the United States at night time and pick some place that's dark. When I see lots of lights on a map that just means there's lots of people and that's not what I consider a vacation. 😁 With that said I suppose every place on the map that's dark is probably 25° right now. 😁

I got a call from a customer that I'd work for a few times over the last 10 years. They put a large one room addition onto their log home about a year ago last October.
I returned the phone call but still haven't heard back so I tried again yesterday and I got a hold of them.
He asked me if I knew why he was calling. I told him I hope it's not about cutting a hole in your carpet to put in an outlet. (That was discussed when I was installing the carpeting)
He said no we're calling to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 🎊🎉
Doesn't get any better than that. 😊
