Working on cleaning out my shed this weekend. In the very back corner was my camp oven, haven’t seen this baby for a few years but we’re gonna get reacquainted. This thing is pimp. It’ll make you some delicious refrigerator biscuits when you’re in the middle of Jellystone park. Trying to cook a game hen might be a bit much but if you’ve got the time it’ll do that too.

I cleaned it up and put a propane bottle on it and tried to fire it up. The igniter spark thing isn’t working so I bumped it with my torch to get it going. She still works like a champ. 400 is about as hot as she’ll get unless you surround the oven with some sort of wind block but that should work for whatever you need to cook while you’re out playing Grizley Adams. I need to find my camp stove now. Busy weekend!

400 cooks most edibles....... If I wasn't cleaning up the back room, I'd pop by any let you know what I want for dinner...... I was thinking maybe bacon wrapped, stuffed meatloaf with swiss, mozzarella and shredded beef with 7 herbs and spices.
.... Sorry. After my last "real" flooring job, I'm expecting dinner from everyone now.
I'll blame it on Sherri. She sorta conditioned me to assume dinner is a requirement. 😁
That little unit looks like it can accomplish a lot.
I've never seen one like it.

I picked that oven up maybe 15 years ago. Can’t remember if it was a Walmart or not but it was one of them type stores in Redmond? I was doin my leisurely stroll and there it was on a shelf in the back of the store just waiting to be found by me. I think I only paid $89 for it.

I don’t go camping as much anymore cus I can afford to stay in hotels now😂 but when I do go camping I like to eat. You ever seen them outdoor cooking shows where there in a lush meadow somewhere in the middle of nowhere with a full on kitchen setup? Maybe they’re on the water somewhere. It don’t matter, that’s me. You pay for the boat, quad, gas, whatever and I’ll bring the food. Now I want to make a blueberry crumble in it. Might have to get me a box of Jiffy blueberry muffin mix if I leave the house today.

What do you think about bringing it to the job site? I could put a salmon steak in there😏

My day got off to a ****** start. Sometime after midnight (after 1am but I think before 2am) I got up for a snack and noticed my youngest cat, Temjin, on her side near the living room door with her leg in the air. I could only see her bottom half-- rest was behind a chest of drawers. Something hit me as off immediately. I went over to check on her and discovered she was stiff and cold. Eyes were closed & chin was tucked against her chest. She had some drool at her mouth and it looked like she had crapped-- but it wasn't diarrhea. She hadn't been vomiting and a few hours earlier she seemed fine. She'd been staying over in that area most of the day, but that wasn't unusual. She'd spilled lamp oil a day or two before and I cleaned it up but didn't see any on her and was really exhausted at the time. No signs of poisoning from her behavior though. Looks like she died in her sleep. I had to tell my mother about 15x that Temjin was dead before it sunk in. She kept asking me if she was Ok and I kept telling her "No, she's DEAD!" I still tried to get her to move even though I knew it was futile. Kept hoping she'd come to but knew she wouldn't. Put her in a bag and in the freezer for the rest of the night.

Asked my brother to help me dig the hole to bury her but he refused. He'd been up all night and said he needed sleep. Went out after sun came up and started digging but had arrhythmia, shortness of breath, and chest pains so I had to stop. Contacted my friend and asked if he could help and he agreed. He said my brother was a dick for not helping.

Decided to let myself calm down a bit first & had brought my new computer over to friend's house to have him install the psu and leave connections for the bluray drive & SSDs. Did a test fit of mounting bracket and confirmed it wouldn't fit. I brought the board I painted and he got the bracket mounted to the board. Had to take it apart and then beat the pressed in bolts out of it. It bent a bit, but wasn't too bad. Back bracket attached fine but bent one wouldn't stay. Screws kept popping back out so we went to TSC to get bolts & locknuts. On the way there friend didn't like the sound the truck made when steering. Stopped at O'Reilly's and he checked power steering fluid. It was almost empty so we went in & got the fluid and he poured it in.

Got the bolts and I pounded the bracket with a mallet to flatten it a bit more. He got the bolts on and tested the fit. Fits fine, but the straps that came with the bracket were too short & he said they felt flimsy. I got food for him & his family, they ate, and then I brought him out to help with the digging. Had 2 shovels & a hand excavation tool that I used to chop roots. He did most of the work but I still helped. Cow came over to see what we were doing but stayed out of the way. I petted her a little and then got Temjin's body & we buried her.

Went inside and I showed my friend my setup for the UPS. He did a test-fit of the shelf with the bracket to confirm it would fit and was happy. Didn't secure it though. He talked to Mom for a bit and mentioned his fiance wanted ice cream. Mom wanted ice cream too. So we headed to Walmart and got some bungee tie downs, some sort of brackets that the bungee hooks attach to, stress release epsom salt, a heating pad from clearance, & the ice cream.

Friend went to put ice cream in the cooler in the trunk and had trouble opening the tailgate. He noticed some old containers of motor oil and asked if he could use them to lubricate the hinges. He poured a little on and the tailgate works much better now. Got gas, dropped him back at home and headed straight home. Ate a little ice cream & am now resting. My hands and back hurt though. Need to take some naprosyn.

I haven't slept since I found Temjin. I was ugly crying pretty hard earlier. Princess the dog was worried about me and trying to comfort me. Itsy the cat came over to lick my forehead and lick some of my tears away. Rupert got up in my face and rubbed his nose on my tears and cuddled me. I'm currently lying down with Boo on my chest.

I still need to take my morning vitamins even though its afternoon. And I need to see if I can get some sleep.

Got my new UPS set up. Involved a lot of cleanup and moving things around and getting my brother to help me adjust my mattress bc it had slipped askew off the boxspring. He wasn't happy about it but it took less than a minute. Had to climb partway under a coffee table (which is where my computer sits) to unplug old UPS and plug in new one. Got some protection for the new UPS setup a bit better. Even after scrubbing the coffee table I wasn't happy with how dirty it still was so I wanted to put it on the stand the computer used to sit in (rolling thing dad built out of scraps). But the stand was absolutely filthy so I put shelf liner on it. May do the same for the coffee table eventually.

Organized cables, labeled which ones were plugged in, and then had to get back under the table (lying on my side on the floor) to plug the new UPS in. That was a pain. I had trouble getting back up.

Cats were very confused. LOL.

This was my test fit (not fully in place & not secured) of the fan hood & basket to protect the new UPS.

Turns out the hood can actually grab the side when tipped back more, but I also used velcro to secure both basket and hood (after I painted the hood black).
This is the current setup:

I used paracord to loosely attach the basket and stuck a face shield up. When the new computer gets setup I'll get the basket more secure & have the shield away from the side a bit more so there is an air gap.

Ginger just climbed on the basket and knocked it off. So I definitely need a better setup. LOL.

Rusty, those sculptures your wife did on the mugs are awesome! Love the Grogu one especially.

Had a bad day yesterday. Mom sent me to get her RX without checking that it was ready first. Got told it wasn't ready & there were people standing around waiting for their RXs to be filled. I was told it *might* be ready in 20min. Last time I heard that it wasn't ready for 3 hrs. So I decided to leave. She is completely out (apparently they shorted her on the prescription by like 20 pills last time and she forgot to count. She's found as many as 60 missing before when counting her pills. So she called them up and they told her she can't get it refilled until next week and she told them she needs it now bc she's out and they need to refill it asap. They said they would "expedite" it. Meanwhile, my brother's RX also was not ready bc they claimed the doctor needs to approve it. He went for an entire year without one of his meds bc his insurance kept refusing to approve (but did not reject) the meds. Every time he gets a refill they say he needs the doctor to authorize it even though it has more refills. Then, a package I ordered a week ago from samsclub still did not arrive. It was scheduled to arrive Friday at first but they didn't send it out in time. Then they said it would be here Saturday. No delivery attempt. Then said it would be Monday. Again, no delivery attempt. Note about "local restrictions". Then after I contacted Fedex to complain (since they were handling it) they assured me it would be here Tuesday and that they would make special notice to the driver to ensure I got it. Website said eta by 1:30pm. 4:30 comes & goes so I contact Fedex and get told it will be delivered by end of day. I contact Samsclub and they told me the same thing but they said they would give a 10% discount for the delay. So 8pm rolls around and still no package. I check the site and it says "No delivery attempted" and that it would be sent end of day next day. I contacted Fedex again and was told the same BS about setting it aside. I said I wanted to file a complaint bc I was getting the same empty promises and at this point I don't know if I will even get the item and now I'm going to have to go out and buy something to replace it in the interim bc it's something I'm out of that I needed and it's going to cost more $ for less of it and I was pissed. Still same old BS about "it will be there end of day". I also alerted them to the ******* loggers putting up unauthorized signs claiming the road was closed. Told them to tell the driver that it's BS and that it does not apply to the path to my road.

Thing is, the road really sucks and the drivers hate coming out here. And this particular driver is really bad about refusing to deliver. It got so bad that after they misdelivered and then made no attempt to deliver a later package, I had it directed to my friend's house. But they misdelivered that one. I really hate Fedex at this point.

Anyway, I got up and took out some trash and started setting stuff up for the new computer. I went and unloaded stuff from the truck. Moved some water cases around and brought in a new case of canned cat food for the kitties.

I also am trying to build a lightsaber using an empty caulk tube, an old tub knob, and the pusher thingy to make a drain pop up (from an old faucet no longer in use). Still need to figure out the rest of the parts though.

Fedex did not deliver in the window they said they would. I'm suspecting the driver will pull another "no delivery attempt" bs thing again.

I did a dry-fit of the shelf that my computer will go on. It will sit on the ledge of the boards I put up for the monitor. Middle board sticks out almost 3" so it will offer more support. I marked the holes on the wall-mount part of the bracket and drilled them. Need someone to hold it in place and have the right driver for the screws. I tried to see if I could get the shelf brackets marked out but the shelf kept moving. Really need a 2nd person to hold it in place.

I took out the rest of the trash. About 5 kitchen bags, and a couple of bathroom trash bags-- mine and Mom's bathroom. Still need to sweep and pick up more trash that spilled-- even though that is my brother's chore. I don't have time waiting around for another ice age for it to get done.

Ate a salad and am about to take a nap.

I swear this house is jinxed and it’s not just me. Finishing up some railing details today and the very last bullet I was positioning is when the key decided it wanted to break, inside the bullet of course. It’s maybe noon and this literally is the last thing we have to do for the day and we can split. That’s all you had to say and I’m on it cus I gotta get home so I can make a dump run.

I drilled a pilot hole into the broken off key then set my nail punch into the pilot hole and the whole thing pulled out as one. We inserted the cable, tightened it up and hit the road.

I went to the dump this afternoon. I used to roll across the scale about 6800ish empty when I had my metal shelves and every tool under the sun on those shelves. Got that down to 6300. Don’t know why I’m excited cus I sure don’t get any better mileage off of a 500# decrease in weight. In fact I was consistently hitting 15ish MPG when I had more weight in my van than the 14is that I’m currently getting. Had a guy I worked with that had an F250 gasser and he said he got better mileage pulling a trailer than when he wasn’t. That must be some Ford BS but I’m ok with it cus they do ride smooth once you put some weight back there.

I had forgotten how affordable it is to go to the dump here but was quickly reminded. How bout you, what does a trip to the dump cost you? I believe it’s a $2 minimum here😂

Notice the in n out in 9 minutes, I like that too!

Sooooo, you don’t take your **** and dump it on your neighbors that you don’t like property??? Me neither 🤫

On the lake again. Lol. There’s the lake, there’s my office and 275 feet away is power. That’s my van about 85 feet from the power and 200 feet of air hose running to the house. Glad I have multiple 10 gauge drop cords.

It’s corner day. I’m the cut bitch and there’s a couple other guys that just nail up what I cut. One of the guys doesn’t make sure his outside corners are looking as good as I would like. I take the time to make sure my cuts are dead on and it just chaps me to see a ****** corner. I’ve decided to put the corners together before they have a chance to mess them up when they’re nailing them up.

Oh yeah, the floor is already installed. Lol. Nothing surprises me anymore.

🙇‍♂️ 🙇‍♂️ 🙇‍♂️ It’s nice to see a prepared master craftsman at work.

I try and do what I can but you know how it goes sometimes. Cut guy carries. I see you and I’ll raise you one, I place all the base where it goes. All you gotta do is lift it up 1/4” and nail it up, what could be easier. All the longer pieces have to be sprung in. If they have to be sprung in, how can they be short??? But somehow there is a corner that’s short🙄

IMG_3740.jpeg
IMG_3746.jpeg

Then for door casings n such I’ll set the pieces right where they go with the measurement written on the wall and the corresponding piece. I even have a reference mark on the door jamb for the 1/4” reveal. Mr. Roachie has got you set up for success!

Thinking about it I know how that corner ended up short. When I measure a room and cut the pieces I work counterclockwise whereas most people think in a clockwise fashion. If you think about it from a working perspective it makes perfect sense. Which side would you rather cope. I’m right handed so coping the right side is easier for me. If you’re left handed you would work clockwise because it would be easier for you to cope the left side.

We’re not coping anything on this job but I still work the same way, counterclockwise. It got nailed up by someone working clockwise. That piece shoulda bumped the base and been short on the other end. The next piece of base would have covered that gap and a dab of caulk would take care of the top. I’ll make sure we’re all on the same page tomorrow.

Good talk.

Tom, my neighbors used to dump their trash on my property. and they would steal my trash cans.

CJ, very nice work. Mr Roachie is cute.

So, as I suspected, Fedex refused to deliver yesterday for the FIFTH time. I finally threw in the towel. I told Fedex to pound sand and that I was done waiting for their empty promises of deliveries. The CS people told me they reached out to the center in Lake Charles (which is where my package kept being loaded on the van from and then taken back to repeatedly) but that they wouldn't respond. Said they could not get in touch with the driver to find out the reason for the lack of delivery. Claimed the package was showing as being scanned when put in the van and scanned when returning but no explanation as to why the driver was not attempting delivery. Before I gave up I asked if they could arrange a different delivery location that wasn't an hour away (their nearest location is an hour away) but they told me only the sender could change that. So I contacted Samsclub about it and they said they could not change the delivery location once it was sent. So I told them screw Fedex, I want a replacement item sent to my friend's house. His address is already on file with them bc I sometimes have them send Ensure to his house. I also requested photographic proof of delivery bc last time they didn't deliver to his house and I had to re-order.

Meanwhile, my friend contacted me that CLECO cut his electricity off without warning. He hadn't even received a bill. He called them and they said "Your bill is due today" and they shut the power off at 9am. It was supposed to autopay via ApplePay or something but it didn't go through and they tacked on a $200+ reconnect fee that he couldn't afford. So I went and got $ from the bank to give him to pay it. He rode with me, but before he got in my truck he reached into the dark fridge and grabbed a Monster. He thought it was the energy drink but he grabbed the alcoholic one by mistake. He said it tastes exactly the same. He chugged the entire can in seconds, then he looked at it and realized he drank the wrong one and got tipsy. He started giggling a bit, singing, and being silly. So after I went to the bank and post office (they are right near each other) I took him to McDonalds to get some food. He got himself a Big Breakfast and a large coffee. Then I took him to the IGA place to pay his electric bill. Took 20+ min to turn power back on. I sat with him and decided to hang out and drive him to his urology appointment as I didn't want him driving after he drank alcohol. Plus he was sore from moving heavy arcade machines the day before.

Thing didn't take too long at the urology place, but it was hard to find. It was behind a hotel. Very interesting decor inside. Tiny brass doorknobs, horizontal wood boards for walls & ceiling, rustic wood beams, an 1970s looking sofa, some armchairs, windows with shutters on the inside, wooden valances with curtain rods (but no curtains), & brick floors.

The coat rack looked neat. Best with sound off. I didn't realize I was making noises. I filmed high in one spot to avoid filming patients.

Took my friend to Taco Bell after. I don't eat there bc it doesn't sit well with my stomach. He bought nacho fries for Mom but they were cold by the time I got home. she also said they were too spicy. Dropped him off at home (after popping in to see his fiance and daughter) and came home. Cooked for Mom and am now playing around on the internet.
