Did anyone see the video footage on C-Span of Jon Stewart testifying before Congress on behalf of 9-11 rescue workers/law enforcement? The room was full with firemen & cops & first responders & most of the Congress members didn't even bother to show up. Stewart blasted them for the disrespect of not even being willing to listen to the people.
He railed against both Democrats & Republicans for trying to bury 9-11 medical compensation/aid in other bills. It was glorious.
But it is also a sad state of affairs when a celebrity has to be the one to speak to Congress on behalf of people who should be listened to on their own.

Congress is no longer doing their job, and I am referring across the political board. I recommend we drain the swamp, terminate all of them, have a one time, 6 year term limit, and no more free medical, cars and security for the rest of their lives.

I can agree with this. They were suppose to SERVE not become petti kings/queens and get rich.
They have more important things to do Zan, like listening to John Dean babble about Nixon.

IIRC, Congress members weren't even supposed to get paid in the first place.They were volunteers. They initially were given compensation for their expenses of traveling to DC & missing out on their other jobs (bc they were expected to have other employment) but then they got super greedy & started demanding salaries, pensions, premium medical benefits, special immunity, & things not afforded to other citizens.
I would add that they should not be allowed to take bribes from lobbyists. No wining & dining, free vacations, etc. No submitting legislation written solely by lobbyists. No superPacs, etc. Also, they should not be able to pass laws that would benefit their own companies at the expense of average citizens. I think they already are not supposed to do that, but they do it anyway. There should be full financial disclosure of where they are getting any $ from to make sure they aren't getting mob $ or foreign $. Goes for both parties.

I agree, Jon should not have had to step in to speak for them. Congress should have listened & treated them with respect. It's been almost 18 years & they are still fighting to get help with their medical treatment. I've talked to a former FBI agent who got cancer from the debris & the government really dropped the ball. They drop the ball with veterans as well.
With veterans, they waited until most had died before they admitted that agent orange was deadly.

The ship operator said “flying objects” that may have been bullets were the cause of damage to the vessel, rather than mines used by Iranian forces, as the US has suggested.
Yutaka Katada, chief executive of the Japanese company operating the ship called Kokuka Courageous, one of two vessels attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, said the damage could not have been caused by mines or torpedos that are shot underwater, since the damage was reportedly above the ship’s waterline.
“It seems that something flew towards them. That created the hole, is the report I’ve received,” Mr Katada said at a press conference in Tokyo on Friday, the Financial Times reported.

Still a strange occurrence. If an Iranian military boat was there removing the mines as has been shown in a video....... who put them there in the first place and why were shots fired afterwards. Just a bit freaky all around.
If Iran hits a US ship, I'd be prepared way in advance to launch a 48 hour barrage of artillery and sink every vessel in their harbors, military and civilian......... nothing left floating.

Iran sent people to rescue the crew members on the cargo ships. I highly doubt they'd do that if they deliberately attacked them. This is a Wag the Dog situation. Bolton desperately wants to go to war with Iran & is trying to make up excuses. I'd still like to know who shot at the vessels though-- we may never know.
Zanne, have you seen the video of the Iranian boat removing the magnet mounted IED from the side of the ship, then running off into the darkness?
