It looks great, rusty!
I think a nice reddish brown stain would look good on it, but it depends on the look you're going for.

I was absolutely exhausted again today, but I reheated some leftovers for Mom for dinner. It was the cornbread stuffing with chicken mixed in. I got a can of cranberry sauce with whole cranberries for her to add in and she loved it.

I'm trying to decide what I should make tomorrow night. Maybe more stuffing if she's not burnt out on it yet. There wasn't enough leftover for me to eat (bc the container fell out of the fridge and spilled so the dog got my share) and I'm also trying to figure out what I should eat since I didn't eat today.

Got my 200 yard carpet job done today. Reminding you I'm 85 years old. o_O (I was 61 two weeks ago)
Last chore today was cutting 3 pocket doors with my Fein Multimaster. A bit tricky after the doors are trimmed in. You need to cut from both sides of the door so it meets in the middle. I thought he said way back when I was measuring that tho it was difficult, they could be adjusted. The cuts were straight and clean, tho slow going.
End result is they are happy as happy gets. This is the 4th house they have asked me to do in the past 17 years, with each one being nicer than the last.
This is one of the coolest and most perfect families on the planet. So cool to work for such nice people. He's a local police captain and I discovered that his wife wasn't teaching school anymore. They are buying or have bought a local coffee company. They buy the coffee and roast it, then blend it as per the previous owners highly detailed instructions.
I got a $150 tip and two bags of coffee............. coffee is food, and you do recall that I will work for food. :D Dang the stuff smells good. Gonna test it in the morning.
They will be moving the coffee companies operations to their large shop at the house. I'm gonna get an invite to see the roasting process when they get it all up and running. Their going to have the best smelling shop in the state. :D
Shameless plug. :D

They ship Hi ?
They can even ship on a regular basis if you want to get fresh coffee delivered monthly or whatever. I'm not into "exotic" coffees with weird tastes, but I like mine towards the strong end. I was thinking about getting their gift pack to see what some of them taste like. I don't want to buy too much of something as an experiment.
The ones they gave me are named Whiskey Run..... no it don't taste like whiskey. :D It's a normal coffee towards the dark end.
Whiskey Run is the name of a local beach 25 miles south of me.
I like this one.
I didn't ask if they have a store front business so I can buy it without going online. When they get all set up at their home shop, it won't have a store front.

Any pics of the pocket door thing, highup? (I love to see pics of stuff).
We got some Guatemalan antiguan (sp?) coffee years ago from a place called Moon's in Albuquerque. I don't know how it tastes but it smells great. I can't drink much coffee and have never been a big coffee drinker, but I love the way it smells.

Last night I was making popcorn for mom and spaced out. I looked at one of the dining chairs and started thinking how Mom said we should get rid of our dining table bc we never use it and all it does is take up space and get stuff piled on it. Then I started thinking that maybe we could get a portable island with storage space in it to put there. Next thing I knew I realized the popcorn had stopped popping and there was a burning smell. It was bad enough that it ruined Mom's appetite and we had to spray some air freshener to override the smoke smell.

Before that I made more stuffing with chicken and cranberry sauce. My brother ate some before going to work and enjoyed it. There wasn't enough to bother with putting it away so I ate the rest. Speaking of my brother's work, the Tribal counsel elder/leader came in and saw the "no tips" sign next to the omelette station and nearly blew a gasket. He told them to take it down and said he was going to find out who decided to say they couldn't get tips and make sure it was changed. Several of the customers had complained to him that the employees were being told they couldn't accept tips and they have always been able to get them. So, hopefully soon my bro will be able to get tips.

Today I went to samsclub with my brother and picked up a foot warmer thing for him that was on sale and got groceries. Stopped to eat at Panda where I encountered a racist jerk. Mom wanted Subway so I got her a sandwich. Unloaded the groceries and herded cats that kept running out. I woke up to Obsidian standing on me and meowing at my face this morning. I went to put him back in the front room and his brother, Yasuke, ran up and started rubbing against my legs. I made sure to pet all of them. Hatshepsut and Aminatu like to be picked up and held. Gravy Jones was being a bit of a jerk and tried to grab my hands with his claws to make me pet him. The good news is that Bethesda isn't trying to run out anymore. She just sits and waits to be petted.

My friend and his fiance are enjoying the new carpet and the new stove. Not sure if he fixed the display part yet, but my brother took him to the local hardware store to get some 6/4 wire and a 50amp fuse (or is it called breaker?) There was only about 21ft left of the wire and my friend needed a little less than that. He decided that since he wouldn't leave enough to really be sellable that he would just buy the whole thing so the owner (who is a friend of my family) sold it to him at half price. He's got the stove hooked up and sent me a pic of it with the burner on. Now if he can just get his grandfather to leave him alone for 5 seconds. LOL. He checked his phone after work and found that while he was at work his grandfather tried to call him 107 times.

Meanwhile, my AWD doesn't seem to be working on my truck and the tire that was replaced seems to be rubbing on something when I turn. Not sure what it is rubbing. There seems to be less space between the bottom of the fender and the tire than on the other side. I'm going to have to get it looked at to figure out what is wrong. I wish I knew more about vehicles.

You couldn't pay me enough $ to drink Red Bull. LOL.

put pieces of plywood on both sides of the door, then cut with a saw. With the door open, you need to adjust the height of those plywood pieces so the top sides are on exactly the same plane. The saw I used isn't a circular saw. It oscillates. I think about 3 degrees back and forth. I cut 75% through the door from one side, then moved to the other side of the door to finish the cut. It was slow going, bit the end result was very nice.

I have an oscillating attachment for my black & decker matrix.
Thanks for the pocket door sketch!
My brain is not wanting to cooperate right now. LOL.

I didn't wake up until 4:30pm today. I was having a very weird dream that defies explanation. Something to do with portals and drawers and all sorts of weirdness.

I'm expecting my brother might get sent home from work early because he was sick before he left. I had cereal for dinner last night. I made backed potato and had saved some thighs from the rotisserie chicken for her so she had that too. Then in the middle of the night she woke me up because she wanted yogurt.

I gained access to my father's original ancestry.com profile and was trying to find the records he had collected but it seems some of it got removed or is now paying-customer only. There are old photos of his aunt Ethel and of his grandmother. My mother remembered something that wasn't in the tree-- about some siblings of his grandmother that aren't listed. My father's great aunt "Dot" (Dorothy). I'm trying to figure out how to add it. But they increased the price so a 6 month plan costs as much as a year plan used to cost.

My sister and her husband are going to be visiting us briefly on their drive back to New Mexico. They went to Florida for their annual Disney World trip. I'm thinking maybe we can go over to the casino and show them where my brother works. I am hoping they will at least come out to the house so they can see the kitties. My sister really likes Sir Hammington and she just lost one of her cats to lymphoma.

The flooring stuff I wanted to get from Sam's has been discontinued and is out-of-stock, so it looks like I have to find another option. I think HomeDepot had coretec. Sam's does have a vinyl tile, but it said something about being able to break under weight and I'm waiting to hear from the mfr if it can be put under washing machines and dryers.

I started looking at the genealogy page and found my father's old account. Seems they raised the price of the subscription but I don't have one right now. I'm hoping it will get lowered as some sort of holiday deal, but I doubt it. They want a credit card to sign up for the "free trial". I don't trust anything that asks for CC for a trial.

I put a new battery in Mom's laptop, went into town and got mail, and delivered a present to my friend-- got him a body pillow that matches a blanket I got him earlier. He said he was just wishing he had a better pillow so he was happy. He hugged it for a few minutes before putting it on the bed. LOL.

He showed me how his kitchen looks now and we discussed how he's going to do the layout. He was thinking of getting a kitchen table but I suggested an island that has storage and some counter-height chairs. I also showed him some places where he could put shelves and he liked that idea. I need to get the measurements from him so I can draw it up in sketchup.
