I picked up my friend's girlfriend from work and kept her company until he got off work before going to the grocery store to pick up prescriptions. Got home and the water wasn't working. I checked the breakers and they were fine. Went outside and the jet pump (that pulls water from the cistern and pushes it to the house) was running but the pulley wheel pump (that pulls water from the well up to the cistern) was not running. I jiggled the float lever for the cistern and the pulley wheel pump came on. Twenty minutes later the water was working again. I really need to replace/fix that stupid float system. Sometimes it gets stuck so the pump keeps running. Tried lubricating it but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure what I would replace it with or how though.

The trip to Houston went ok. We made it there safely. Dealership didn't jerk us around-- it was all straightforward and relatively quick. They had to clean the truck up and fix a few things on it so we went to Fry's Electronics while they were doing that. My mechanic friend had never been there and he wanted to move in to the place. LOL. He loved it there.

We got separated on the way home and my bro took a wrong turn so he ended up going out on another highway-- he was about 20 minutes behind us, but there was some major accident so they shut down the freeway and made us turn around twice so we ended up stuck in traffic near Baytown for 3 hours. We thought my bro was behind us so we called and our friend said they were in Beaumont already and he sent me the link to the directions to go the route they took so we could get home. So, they got home around 9 and we got home around midnight.

In a bit of sad news, some other friends were having trouble with their dog being sick and throwing up a lot. They took her to the vet and found out that one of their neighbors has been poisoning the dogs with antifreeze. Cops were called and found the bowl of dog food with antifreeze at the guy's house (and the guy doesn't have any pets). Two of their dogs were poisoned (one of them is nursing puppies). The nursing one is better off and they think she'll be fine, but the other one is on an IV drip and they don't know if she's going to pull through.

I think I want to use one of those antique carpet stretchers-- something with lots of spikey things on it-- to go beat that jerk in the face with it. I hope he goes to prison and gets the crap kicked out of him. People like that.... just... UGH! And we think he's already killed other pets in the neighborhood.

But, back on the positive news, we made it home safely and my bro is happy with his truck. I'll post pictures later after I get some rest. I have a long night of trying not to disturb my cat Captain Fluffy and I'm pretty sure she'll end up sleeping on my head again. LOL.

I spent most of yesterday with my friends trying to help them and comfort them while they looked after their poisoned dogs. After the vet closed, the one that had less poison in her system took a turn for the worse. My friends were panicking so I calmed them down, but it was horrible to watch. No living creature should ever suffer like that. I can't imagine how much pain that poor dog was in. It took her a long time to die. At least the last 10 hours were nonstop convulsions and spasms. My friends are devastated. The other dog has kidney failure so we aren't sure if she's going to pull through.

The cops really want to get the sick creep who did it. He's been killing animals for many years and has never gotten busted-- but the cops found his bait and traps and the bowl of antifreeze right next to the dog food bait he put out.

I took video footage of the seizures and convulsions to show to the cops so it can be used against the jerk in court.

Just sad and angry. Wish it were legal to cram some antifreeze down his throat and make him suffer...

Miserable day. Sump pump quit In the middle of the night during a T storm, so I got two hours of sleep and still must replace it. Wife called me at 5 30 am, she left for class at 5, her car broke down. I drove 30 miles to get her in my old work van and then had her car towed to a shop. Still raining. Need to go down and replace the pump but I am exhausted. Meanwhile, my minivan is still broke down in the driveway. Ever try to find an anti-freeze leak in the rain?

I found mine on a dry day and replaced the water pump between showers on a stormy day. I want a garage with a lift and a heated floor.

When a neighbors dog craps in your yard, you need to go over and complain to them, not kill the critters.

It's not that the dogs did anything. The guy apparently just enjoys killing animals. He's been doing it for years but the police never had enough evidence to convict him. We think he may have killed the cats that went missing. His daughter bragged about how he likes to put out canned dog food with rat poison in it. He's just a sick creep.

But my friends have the blood tests showing the antifreeze in their systems and the cops found the bowl of antifreeze next to the dog food in his yard. They are determined to bring this guy down.

Floorist, sorry about your sump pump. Glad you got it replaced though.
