I had eye surgery today on my second eye. Pulled out the cataracts and added a tube to relieve pressure from glaucoma. Feels like I was kicked in the eye by an ornery mule, but I can see!

........at least now you can see the mule before he kicks you. :D
The idea of eye surgery scares the crap outa me. what if you hear the doctor say "ooops" and the room suddenly goes black?

I had one removed a few years ago . Didn't seem to improve anything .

My friend of many years had it done last summer and they dropped the lens behind his eye . He now has blurred vision in that eye forever ..

No joke, my (now late) elderly friend was having eye surgery at the VA. For some reason they had a student doing the surgery and he literally heard the student say "Oops!" and the more experienced doctor immediately told him to step aside and was not happy. Botched something on the eye and scarred it. Vision was worse after that. We convinced him to go to my mother's eye doctor for his other eye and it made a huge difference.

On a side note, my father once got a tiny piece of metal in his eyeball and had to get it surgically removed. Half a second after the doctor pulled the metal out, an earthquake hit. If it had hit during the procedure it could have really messed up his eye.
I sorta scored at a pawn shop today. They had a Porter Cable router kit for $69. They had a pair of dial calipers for $22.
I asked if they would take $50 for the router............. facial expressions told me no ........ so I said how about $50 if I buy the calipers too. ($22)
So $72 later I walked out with the router, case , calipers and case.
The router is the same model Porter Cable router that I recently purchased new for $170.
Unlike the new router I bought, this one has the case, the plunge base, the standard base and a guide. That combo is at least $206 from Amazon.

The Chinese calipers can probably be purchased new for $30, but I still think I done good overall. Router sings like a brand new one and it's American made. Now I can leave one router in my router lift permanently instead of switching back and forth, and I have three bases.......... one standard base to use and abuse. An identical one to use on more delicate surfaces because it's plastic base is not scratched up, plus a plunge base and a plastic carrying case. Both routers have 1/4" and 1/2" collets
That is awesome!! Nothing like getting a good deal and getting nice tools!

My mother got in on some big sale on Wish. Stuff from there can be hit or miss. It doesn't always look like the picture or it turns out to be crap quality. She ordered a huge cat tree. I was skeptical but it arrived and was better quality than expected and had decent instructions. Best part was a list of all of the screws with little pictures of them and their measurements and their quantities so I could organize them. The posts all had stickers with their numbers on them to make it easier to identify. I did have to look at the photos of the thing on the internet to figure out how some of the stuff was supposed to fit together bc it didn't match the drawing. Hit a snag bc I accidentally used the wrong screw on a post (the one longest screw). Thought I dropped it and looked all over. Finally decided to see if I bone-headed and used it. First one I pulled out was the right one. I was going nuts trying to screw the cube on but the screws weren't long enough. Finally got it all assembled and dragged it out in to the kitchen. I was going to move it further, but the cats took an interest and started climbing in it. Within seconds my fat orange cat was curled up in a soft hanging spoon-shaped part lower down. Oldest cat climbed up on lvl 3. Fluffy cuddlemonster kitty got on the top tier and in to the upper spoon thingy. Leukemia kitty got up on top tier. She swapped places with the cuddlemonster. I decided to leave it there for now.

As for the snow-- it used to only snow once every 20 years. I remember it snowing in the 1980s and then again in the 2000s. Then it started happening more frequently. Used to only be about an inch or so. Some places got 5 inches this time- which is unheard of. They don't even sell ice scrapers or snow shovels down here. Even 1-inch of snow and people lose their minds. Meanwhile, my friends in the north will have 5ft of snow and its business as usual.

This was my front yard yesterday morning:

The snow melted yesterday and my dog got depressed. Wouldn't come out of her dog house-- wouldn't even sit up. She barely opened her mouth to take her medicine. I'm worried about her, but I will have to check on her in the morning when I can see out there. Poor old thing hasn't been doing well lately. I hope she'll make it through Christmas.

Dog is feeling better again. Cats love the new cat tree. My d-bag antisocial cat (he loves people but is a troll to other cats) has been sleeping inside the cube. I may have to find a spot for it in or near the kitchen and hope they still want to stay on it.

We got our first snow ( of the season) today.
About 6-7”, I got to use my new snowblower. It works great and the handlebar warmers are nice.

Yesterday I was in shopping hell with my friend's girlfriend. She went to the store 3 friggin times bc she kept forgetting stuff. And she spent over 2 hours there and left with like 5 or 6 items. She couldn't make up her mind. I hate shopping. She's a nice kid, but ugh.

I brought her over to my house along with most of the presents she was giving people for X-mas. My mother wrapped them for her (bc she's good at wrapping stuff). Took a few hours. Today I'm going to take my mother up to the sleep study clinic so she can get the info on whatever CPAP she needs as a replacement for her one that broke. She had to re-do the sleep study and then the doctor went on vacation so they are just now getting around to prescribing something. She had the sleep study about a month ago.

I did a repair yesterday to a glass back vinyl floor that buckled along a 12 foot long transition into a laminate floor in the living room. I had the shop order new reduces because I wasn't sure if I could re-use the existing ones.
The reducer was adhered to the vinyl flooring, and the vinyl flooring was butted up against the laminate floor along the entire length. I cut out about an inch of the vinyl flooring, heated the vinyl to relax the bubble then layed my cold straightedge on it. It went well. I was worried that I might need more adhesive............. but which kind would stick to the one that the installer used initially? It re-suck well enough to the original pressure sensitive for me to go ahead and install the new reducer trim.

I got new work wear from the company I sub from.
• 6 new T shirts
• 3 long sleeve shirts
•2 fleece sweat shirts
• hooded carhartt winter coat
Feels like Christmas 🎄
