What a day. we moved my 35 year old stepson from a 3rd floor apt(no elevator) to a ground floor apt. across town. He is totally blind and raising 3 kids. His two friends that were supposed to help didn't show. So we got ahold of an old buddy of his from high school and we moved it all. It took all day, just to move the furniture. We have Sunday and Monday to move the rest.

Getting older is as fun as Grandma said it was. ;)

Take it easy Rusty. Those old tickers have a shelf life you don't need expiring.
Listen to havasu. Words of wisdom.

Due to a recent inquiry, and a lot of procrastination, :D , I've been researching and developing a new SuckerDownNow. The old one was built on the fly and never got more serious thought.
I'm out $5.78 on parts, $12 in fuel, and a day screwing around and enjoying my leisure time.

What's this "leisure time"?. I don't understand.:(

All I've done the past few days is take out trash, wash dishes, clean litterpans, feed animals, and install a new doorknob on the front door. My brother went to open the door and the knob snapped off. Lucked out bc I found a nicer one at HD and because of a problem with the ringing up, the guy sold it at clearance price.

Sadly this gets my hopes up, HD is pure crap with their CS, with SS prolly running out of money before I retire, unless I install until I croak on the job, a job there might be all that's left someday. So keep up the good work HD!

Its been hit or miss with the HD employees for me. Sometimes they act like they don't want to be bothered and they ignore customers who try to get their attention. Once waited for 30 minutes for an associate for the department to come out and the person never showed up so we ended up leaving empty-handed. Another time we bought some bags of cement for a job we were working on. My father ran out and the local store was closed so we made a mad dash to get up there and get more. They said they would load it for us but after we purchased it, we stood around for over 20 minutes waiting for someone to load it up until I finally said "f*** it" and reached to pick up a bag myself. Suddenly, one of the employees rushed over to stop me and when we explained what was going on, he apologized and started loading the bags up.

Another time we had a generator that stopped working after a hurricane. We took it to the authorized repair guy (at a different place) and he basically told us that he refused to fix it because he could make more money selling new ones. He was really ripping people off. We were at homedepot looking at generators when we explained what happened to one of the employees. He asked if we had it with us and said he would work on it for free because he thought it was awful for people to go without power in a time like that.

So, some individual employees can be very good. It all depends on who you get.

Have I ever mentioned that almost every time I'm in a hardware store I get mistaken for an employee? LOL. Most of they walk up and ask where something is, I'll try to help them. Other times I will tell them I need to find an employee. I usually get apologies when they realize I don't work there, but I find it funny and I tell them it happens all the time.

On a couple of occasions I had people start yelling at me because they thought I was an employee. LOL.

I went into one and had to explain to an employee in the flooring dept, when he got done selling carpet, that I was looking for some concrete tackstrip. He had no idea that they sold concrete and wood strip and they are different.

I had no idea either! LOL. But then, I don't actually work in the hardware store so I don't know this stuff. If I did work there, I would want to learn as much as I could about the products. I've learned to not expect the employees to always know about stuff as much because I think the stores just don't teach the people and its not like the old small hardware stores where the people selling stuff actually knew all about the products and their uses. I've found that nowadays I have to bring in pictures to show people what I'm seeking because they won't know it by name.

How could I not relax.

You deserved a bit of R&R even if it was too short. I miss my old photography days, because those views. They took a load off my shoulders like nothing else could. No phone, no TV or computer, and all job worries left behind for a while.

This is where we spent last week
Norfolk Island which is about half way between NZ and Brisbane Australia.
We went to see my uncle who came up from Brisbane for his 90th birthday, he is the oldest descendant of the Fletcher Christian from the Mutiny of the Bounty fame. My cousin also lives there and it was her 65th birthday Only about 900 adults live there so don't go looking to open a flooring shop there
One of the photos is how they take everything ashore from the ship. Last year the ship waited 5 weeks for the water to be calm enough to unload
The other photo is from the opposite side of the island
There is even a Golf Course there Nick and plenty of fishing until the sharks come along and pinch the fish off your line
